This is a three star establishment but believe it should be rated four stars. Room 3 is beautiful and spacious. Our hosts were fantastic and breakfast was great. With the bus stop right across the road it is easy to get to and from the centre of town. We forgot things in our room and our hosts made sure they...

Stayed here a while back with my best friend. The rooms are a bit small - bathrooms are tiny - but perfect for what we needed. You are very close to the city with a bus stop directly opposite the front door and breakfast in the morning is really really good haha. The lady, who I assume is the owner,...

We were actually booked into another guest house on the same road but the Alpha rang us to say their friends who ran the other one were ill and couldn't take the booking (we were an hour out of Edinburgh at this stage). Aida was great at the Alpha, they put us up for the same fee (we originally booked...

We read the reviews before booking and am sorry to say that the guest house did not meet our expectations. Yes it was clean, with ample supplies of fresh clean towels. Conveniently situated for buses into the city centre, every 10 minutes. The owner was very welcoming and friendly. We were in room 2. It was let down by a...

A quick overnight stay before heading into the Borders. Rooms were clean and well-equipped. Wifi was on offer but not needed so I cannot comment on the quality. Breakfast was generous and well presented and the owners were very welcoming. Be aware that there is nowhere readily available nearby to eat in the evening but there is a bus-stop outside...

Despite reading mixed and negative reviews of Alpha Guesthouse, we decided to book on the recommendation of another nearby guesthouse which unfortunately was fully booked for the 3 nights we needed to stay. Positives during our stay were the welcome we received (not from the owners who were absent for most of our stay) the breakfast staff at the sister...

Stayed here for 2 nights for husbands 50th. Room very clean and big enough for what we needed. Bathroom is a little compact, but we didn't go to sit in the bathroom!!! Location is a couple of miles from city, we walked in on one occasion as it was a lovely day and it took approx half hour. Bus stop...

Stayed here for two nights whilst visiting Edinburgh. Room was nice and clean, bathroom was useable but sink was very small. Only lady we dealt with was very helpful and pleasant and the breakfast was lovely. Only downside was not guesthouses fault but the amount of noise some of the other guests made when coming in at night.

We had to leave very early the next day. The owners were nice enough to give us our breakfast later in the evening, so we had a nice fresh snack to get us started in the morning. It’s a relatively short bus-ride away from the center of town. We liked it here, despite having a rather small room. I guess...
