The location was perfect - right in the middle of Edinburgh opposite St Giles Cathedral on the Royal Mile. The apartments were not easy to find at first and were not situated close to Reception. Four of us stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment with one bathroom. When we first went in the heating was turned up high and it was... More

Dear Miranda, while we appreciate feedback when it is fair and constructive we are very surprised by many of your comments. Our office is located right opposite St Giles Cathedral, roughly twenty meters away from the Cathedral itself, and only two minutes’ walk from our Old Fishmarket Close apartments. We do have the heating set on a timer because Scotland... More

23/06/2015 to 27/06/2015 Excellent accommodation directly opposite the cathedral. Easy access to most of the main tourist attractions. Despite the central location, the layout of the apartments meant we were not disturbed by noise from the city centre. Staff very helpful and responsive to issues.

Met by extraordinary customer service as soon as we arrived. The best we've had in Scotland. Very cordial and helpful staff. The walk up to the top level is tough with a lot of luggage but the view is well worth it. We felt very safe and had easy access to sites and restaurants. Highly recommend this company and these... After having to leave very dubious copies of credit cards, numerous emails, inability to access after office hours other than via convoluted means, we were then so disappointed to be directed a mile down the road to our appartment. Right next to the railway line, past restaurant rubbish, down several back alleys, and 3 flights of stairs with luggage we... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
