The breakfast in the morning did the trick. I was the only resident having breakfast that morning and felt a bit guilty upon discovering that the old lady serving it had travelled a couple of miles on her bike through the howling storm outside, bless her.
The room was spotless cosy and good sized, we were in an accessible room and the bathroom was huge.
The menu had a good choice and the food was delicious and the service was first class.
The staff were friendly, well mannered and could not do enough for you.
Definatley well worth a visit.
Food in restaurant, very good pub grub
Stayed in Room 3 - above kitchen which has a large noisy extractor fan. In addition a further very noisy, vibrating intermittent fan or water pump keeps cutting on & off - at first thought it was some sort of electric tools being used in nearby room.
Do not stay in Room 3.
On plus side, there was a fire alarm late in evening but was impressed by the professional way the staff dealt with the situation - they are obviously well trained in that respect.
Apart from the usual things of good service, staff etc. I really have to emphasise just how good my meal was!
Ordered the sirloin steak to be cooked well done (which it was) and it came with a small salad with vine-cherry tomatoes, triple cooked chips (delicious), a choice of sauce.....I opted for peppercorn and some onion rings.
For all this I would have expected to pay in excess of £20 and no doubt be charged extra for the sauce! But when the bill arrived it was only £15!
Really impressed at the value for money and I passed on my compliments to the chef when the waitress took our plates away.
Keep up the good work guys and really look forward to my next visit!
Staff whre all very friendly and always welcoming. We were not going to eat here for dinner as there were lots of other eating places to choose from but we were glad we did as they have a lovely special board as well as the menus on the table very tasty only thing is I would ask for a larger table when we come back as the two seater table in back restaurant as all tables were booked was cramped but did not spoil the food.
Breakfast in the morning was very fresh and served by an excelletn waitress who was most accomodating but sorry I cant mind your name though to be honest would be a shame to name one member of staff when all were excellent. First time in Broughty Ferry but when we are definately back again will stay at this hotel again.
The menu is has a great variety of home cooked local food and the bar is blessed with a great variety and selection of top quality drinks. In the cozy bars there is an open fire which delivers a warm buzzing atmosphere for a Wednesday night in early March there is plenty going on.
The most impressive thing about this place is the people the staff! I’m sitting here watching how each member of the team is concerned with ensuring the customer experience and satisfaction is set at the highest standard! No fastness, no motives just real sense of care, concern and quality there’s a real pride about their work in this little diamond.
For me It would be a real travesty not to share my experience. If your the area and don’t route the tavern into your plans then you’ll be missing out large, In my opinion this lovely little pub/hotel offers the best of Scottish hospitality! If you snooze then you will almost definitely lose!
First the bedroom- this was large and although there was no bath the room and bathroom were perfectly adequate.
The bar was busy with visitors and locals and the prices were what I would expect for a Greene King pub. It suited me that the pub had sports channels so no complaints there.
I can thoroughly recommend the haggis and pepper sauce chips. Truly scrumptious.
The only issue around this hotel is that there is very little parking but that is the same all over Broughty Ferry town centre.
I would heartily recommend this hotel and bar.
Top notch for real ales, and our Balmoral burgers were both great in terms of quality and value. Wouldn’t hesitate to return
Service was very good and prompt by polite Staff, nothing was to much hassle for them.
We ate here on the night and the food was very good and fresh as was the breakfast in the morning.
we will have no hesitation on staying at this Hotel again or recommending the Hotel to friends.
"Would recommend booking restaurant at night, which we did, as it was busy. Pub Quiz on a Monday is great fun"Read full review
