Detailed Reviews
Having visited before we had looked forward to returning, however upon arrival we were not advised of any COVID19 measures, check out times or any other kind of information that you should be given upon checking in. We had requested a room with a window (as some of the rooms only have skylights) but were not expecting to end up at the very top of the building and having the steepest and smallest tread steps to climb, I must admit we found these steps a challenge to say the least. There was no hand soap in our room, which in the current climate seemed to be a little strange! Unsure if we needed to book a table for dinner, we went down to ask and a very helpful staff member advised it wasn’t necessary, but it might be best to guarantee a table. When heading down to eat that evening we were shown our table, rudely, again no explanation as to ordering food or anything. We ordered our food which came and was perfectly fine, although staff made no effort to clear our table or anything. The only words I have to describe this visit is disappointing. On our next visit to Broughty Ferry, we will look to stay in another hotel that will hopefully give us a more welcome feel.

Regularly stay at this hotel. Never had an issue but due to Coronavirus not have an issue. CEO of Weatherspoons says on website that all staff updated on issues etc. You go to the toilet and there is a printed piece of paper ( not laminated) over the toilet advising washing hands etc. You wash your hands and dry them but have to pull the door open? More than likely its contaminated. Why not prop the door open ? Next we are told all surfaces will be cleaned more regularly. Did he mean twice a day in place of once.? We sat at a table and asked for it to be cleaned. This took a while to happen and he just wiped it over with a damp cloth! During our stay other tables were cleared but none cleaned. Shocking is all I can say. Don’t people take this situation seriously?

Great and central . Pity the staff were quite unhelpful when called to ask about any restrictions in place due to COVID
On arrival was given a room that wasn’t made up this was quickly sorted by been given another room . This was ok although the cleanliness could be better dusty lampshade and walls could of been dusted ( the texture of wall allowing dust to settle on it ) slow service for breakfast too

We arrived after 4 pm, checkin is at 2. There was a sign at reception saying to go to the bar to check in, so we did, and there was a designated area to check in. We waited, whilst staff hovered, some busy, some not so much, and we didn’t get so much as eye contact, never mind a “someone will be with you in a minute”. After about ten minutes of this, I was beginning to get annoyed, so asked a bartender if we could please just check in. They did this in less than 30 seconds. Off we went to our room (room 18] . When we first entered, impressions weren’t great, and I actually commented that they could have put more effort into making the bed. Then...when I went into the bathroom, the reality became obvious, the room hadn’t been made up or cleaned since the last guest! There were hairs on the toilet pan (the seat was up, the bath had a load of hairs all over it, and there was a dirt mark and thumb print on the toilet flush., as well as towels hanging on hooks and dumped n the floor and a sink half full of water! When I went back to the bedroom, my partner had pulled back the duvet, and the sheet was filthy! I went back to the bar to complain, and was told there were no other rooms to change us to,and they didn’t know why it hadn’t been cleaned...I don’t care, I just want it clean!, and maybe an apology but the “sorry.” Word wasn’t even offered.Give the guy a chance, he came up,and declared that he would clean it immediately, so my partner and I went for a walk.when we returned, the carpet had been hoovered and the bed had been changed, and the towels in the bathroom sorted. And that was it, the toilet seat hairs, bath hairs, and dirty prints were still there, so I ended up cleaning those myself with a clump of toilet paper and hand wash. There was also a shampoo/body wash dispenser above the bath which was completely empty.
After my cleaning spree, I made coffee for us, from the tea and coffee provided in the room, and had to stir them with a rolled up coffee sachet because there were no tea spoons!
We had missed our dinner reservation by now, so made our way down to the hotel, restaurant, and downloaded the app to order food. EVERYTHING apart from 1 type of burgers was “out of stock” so I asked a young lady who was clearing tables if it was maybe a glitch..not so, the hot water was off in the kitchen, so they couldn’t serve food, I’m still trying to figure out how that works, if they can serve drinks, surely food is doable too? In any case, we went out and brought food to the room.
Sleep in this place is hard, very hard, the bed is uncomfortable, the pillow almost non existent,,and the doors are so badly cut that you will hear every move in the passage, and the light that leaks in will cut right through your eyelids.
Breakfast was around £12 with coffee, and it was lovely, cooked to perfection in my opinion .
This was a one off for us, yes it was a cheap night, but by god it was a terrible experience that I wish I hadn’t had to pay for, never again!

The hotel room is 1 star. Mattress was hard and un-giving. There were no softer mattress, only harder ones.
Room 18 was very small, with a 9 inch gap between the bottom of the bed and the dressing table. If you get up during the night, or are not careful during the day, you WILL stub your left toes and bruise your leg.
There is no external ventilation to this room, no windows that open. There is a split a/c unit that cycles stale air. You can put on the bathroom extractor fan, but this goes off when you take the keycard out of the holder that allows electricity to the room.
It took 2 days after repeated requests to give us non-allergic replacement pillows.
The bar/restaurant is 2 star. The food is normal Weatherspoon fayre. Service varies from poor to non-existent. All bar and food ordering has to be done online. If you have an app/internet enabled phone and can order yourself, it can work OK. If deviating from standard stock and you need staff assistance, forget it. Our designated driver simply wanted soda water, which was not on their website. After 3 staff requests and 25 minutes later, we were told that there were people in front of us and we would have to wait while they got THE tablet to take our order. In the meantime we could see people coming, ordering online and getting their drinks before us – most frustrating.
At just over £50/night, we did not expect a lot and we were not surprised. We did however expect a reasonable night's sleep, undamaged body parts, in a room with clean air.
So, on balance, 1 star is the maximum we could give.

Our table was filthy and hadn’t been cleaned, it was the best of a bad bunch. There were no members or staff around to ask to clean it. Our drinks came very quickly, however our food took almost half an hour (which is very long for a Wetherspoons!). The pizzas were cold and soggy, the dough was pretty much mush. The rest of the food was lukewarm and mediocre at best. Whilst staff brought over drinks for us, they would never take away old glasses or plates, it was like they couldn’t wait to get away from us! Overall really disappointed, as I’ve been to other Wetherspoons which have been brilliant.

Fantastic value break for us.
I understand that Wetherspoon's isn't everyone's cup of tea, but you can't dispute the value for money. Clean modern rooms, ideal location, spacious bar areas; synonymous with the chain and really helpful, friendly staff. An extensive food and drinks menu that won't break the bank also helps those on a budget, currently priced out of other accomodation and hostelries.
I've paid far more, for far less, accomodation-wise, in Scotland

Let me start by saying I generally don’t mind a Wetherspoons- you know what you’re getting at good value and Jolly’s is generally one of the better ones. Attended today for breakfast, waited 45 mins between ordering and food service, the food was warm at best, pretty tasteless items, didn’t get the items I actually ordered on my plate so no bacon and what was plated up was t actually a menu combination but couldn’t face delay in sending back. There were clearly not enough staff on and despite machines telling you to request fresh cups for refills we were told just to re-use our existing cups. There was also no sanitiser at entrance which could not have run out at 10am so all in all not a great experience

Nice clean room and lots of extras. 2 bottles of water 2 packets of shortbread lots of sachets of coffee, tea hot chocolate and milk replaced each day and room cleaned daily with towels replaced if required. Only downside for me mattress and pillows too hard but that's a personal taste. Room also had toiletries iron and ironing board, free WiFi and TV. Near bus and train stops where I met a lovely little Robin.

The menu invites you to download the app and order. Three of us, two crashed attempts to complete and pay and the order went in 25 minutes after arrival.
Food was hot and tasty. Cutlery all needed polished before use, and wasn't all present.
Required the use of the disabled washroom facility, the other end of the building, negotiating tables and chairs, to discover a plaque stating radar key Required from bar, half sbuilding away.
Made my way back to be told that was wrong, but he would attend to the door mounted plaque eventually.....
Won't rush back, ordering beverages saw mugs dumped on our table, empty with no directions

I dunno, I dunno, I dunno, sorry I can’t be of any help with your question!!
Sorry I don't know the size of "extra" beds for children, but the beds in the hotel are very comfortable and a good size, hope this helps.
Not at hotel theirs a park about 5 mins behind some shops
