Detailed Reviews
Checked into Queens Hotel on 21st March for a 2 night stay and loved everything about our visit. We have stayed in Dundee on a few occasions and Queens Hotel is by far the best hotel for location, value and comfort. We arrived from Glasgow by train and thanks to the foresight of the hotel’s Victorian predecessors, on leaving Dundee station, you can’t miss the hotel signage! I’m a pretty quick walker, however even at a gentle pace, from Dundee station / Discovery Quay/ V and A, it would take no more than 10 minutes to walk to the hotel. Similarly, the shopping centre of Dundee, which is very good, would take no more than 10 minutes to reach, again, at a gentle pace There is a large sized car park at the rear of the hotel which I’ll use in the future, however, given the location of the hotel, public transport is an ideal way to arrive. The hotel is a brilliant Victorian hotel, and not only have I now stayed there, but Winston Churchill, a regular guest, beat me by a couple of years…On arrival, the hotel reception staff were so welcoming which really sets the tone of any stay. Check in was hassle free and our room was lovely, as a train buff, with a view of the Tay Rail Bridge and the railway lines in and out of Dundee Station, I loved the view. Our room was a spotless double room. I am a terrible sleeper but the bed was so comfy, on both nights I slept like a log. In addition to the bedroom being spotless, the bathroom was equally clean with a great shower to help waken us up and start the day. Breakfast was served in the bright and friendly restaurant. I’m vegetarian, but my wife isn’t, however there are both vegetarian and vegan options on the cooked breakfast menu, which is a massive bonus and a huge well done to the staff for ensuring the variety of breakfast caters for everyone. Breakfast was lovely, served by a really friendly team and overall the friendliness of all the hotel staff makes Queens Hotel such a fantastic hotel to stay. We’ll be back very soon and can’t wait to return!

We stayed at The Queens for three nights last week, we had a clean, comfortable room with a very large bed, the room was lovely and warm which was really appreciated as it was very cold weather. It's in a good location and has free parking for residents at the rear. This is an old traditional building so you do get the odd creaky floorboard here and there but it's well kept, comfortable and the rooms have all the amenities you need, I was pleasantly surprised to find the tv had Netflix! As many reviews have already mentioned, the best thing about the hotel is the staff, they are really friendly and helpful which is rare these days, I just hope they are recognised for their efforts. Special thanks to Julie the Duty Manager for looking after us so well during our stay, nothing was too much trouble and we really appreciated all her help. We will definitely stay again.

The car park is free for guests, being large with plenty of spaces. A lift goes from the car park level to the reception, then onto the rooms, so no struggling with heavy cases up stairs.
My room, which turned out to be lovely and quiet, had a sea view - an unexpected treat. There was a comfy double bed, and although the room was dated, it was spotless and well maintained. The bathroom was also spotless and the shower was easy to use with a powerful flow of hot water.
Breakfast was good with decent coffee. A cooked buffet was served to you, but the items were fresh and non-greasy. There was a selection of cereals and yoghurts too.
Check out was easy, and the receptionist was happy for me to leave my car at the hotel to visit attractions before departing.

My husband and I stayed Saturday 5th bed and breakfast. Lovely clean hotel very easy to find and in an excellent location for reaching the shops or if you have family at Dundee university. Nice restaurants nearby although I would say book in advance. Breakfast was delicious. A perfect amount of food cooked fresh served by the staff made with what ever kind of eggs you would like. Parking behind hotel. You just give your registration details to reception. Our room faced into the road and it was very noisy during the night with a lot of people who were returning from night outs shouting and laughing which didn’t bother us but wouldn’t suit people who are light sleepers so ask for a room overlooking car park. We would definitely return .

Stayed at the Queens Hotel for a 2 night break. Its a very impressive building, Winston Churchill has also stayed here. They have a very impressive staircase with wood panelling fit for a Queen. The whole place is immaculate and credit to the staff in keeping it spotless. Breakfast this morning was well organised with the lovely Morgan doing a great job on her own. We were well informed as to what was on offer as Covid rules in place. Didnt have to wait for anything as she was on the case which was better than the first morning experience with more staff on. Nothing was a bother and she made us feel welcomed. She is a credit to the hotel. The car parking was also well organised and free as long as you registered when arriving. I only booked this hotel as it had a free car park unlike a lot of others plus its less than a 5 minute walk into the town. I would stay again and highly recommend it as all the staff are lovely with nothing a bother.

The Queens Hotel more than met our expectations - the accommodation was both clean, comfortable and spacious and and we had a great view over the Tay. The staff were extremely friendly and the freshly prepared cooked breakfast was excellent. We cannot comment on the restaurant facilities as we did not use them - there are plenty of places to eat within easy reach of the hotel. We were visting Dundee for a couple of days to see the McManus Gallery and Museum and the Verdant Works (both walkable) and went to the Dundee Rep theatre (just round the corner) in the evening. There was also free parking for the car!! I am not one to normally enthuse about our visits but can thoroughly recommend this hotel, especially if you can get a room deal (as we did).

Stopped here for 1 night and ate at the DCA just round the corner. Nice old hotel that has been well maintained, was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately the room was pretty chilly when the heating went off, even after turning up the thermostat and tucking the curtains behind the radiator while we were out.
The breakfast was good quality, the staff were attentive and the food was freshly prepared for each guest - much nicer than a hot buffet!
There was a reasonable sized car park to the rear of the property. It was available to non-residents so I don’t know if there is ample parking at busy times. It was free for hotel guests but a fee for others. The hotel is pretty convenient for the train station. Very nice hotel, felt more like an independent than a chain, I mean this as a compliment!

Stayed for 4 nights. Julie made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The hotel was spotless and albeit a smaller breakfast menu due to Corona virus it was still plentiful and again the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Me and my colleague, Paul stopped here overnight with work. Hotel was spot on in a great location.
Stuart (chef) made the best poached eggs which set me up for the day! Julie on reception was very pleasant, helpful and had a great sense of humour with our thick Barnsley and Scottish accents clashing!
Another mention for Gavin. Our room was quite cold due to the snow and extreme weather. The high ceilings meant the radiator alone didn’t quite cut it. A quick phone call down to reception and, without exaggeration, 90 seconds later there was a knock on my door with a fan heater.
Top service from top staff. I’d be happy if HSL put me up in this hotel again if we work up in Scotland!

Parking is at rear of hotel and free when you put in your registration at reception. Check in quick and easy. Room was large and everything was as needed maybe some sockets close to the bed would help. The room did get cold during the night as it was very windy and the draughty window let a bit of cold air in but a fan heater is provided. Bed was very comfortable and plenty of hot water for the shower. The evening menu is limited but good value and breakfast was very nice. So for a business stop over with parking it’s very good.
