My daughter and I had lunch in the Beer Garden yesterday afternoon and were both really impressed by the social distancing measures in place. Hand sanitiser was available on entry and the tables were all partitioned off from each other so no possibility of invading anyone else's space.
Staff were helpful and individual menus included space for contact details. Waiting staff were allocated to particular tables to limit contact which was much appreciated. Tables were booked in slots and although we arrived a little early we were seated promptly.
Although the menu was limited there was still enough of a selection to cater for most tastes.
All in all we had a very pleasant experience and would have no hesitation in returning or recommending this venue to others.
Well done all at the Fort Hotel.

Great hotel with very friendly staff from the owner to the waitress bar staff absolutely everyone. We stayed in a room across the road from the hotel which was very comfortable great size with everything you would need . It was room 49. The hotel and rooms are maintained to a very high standard.Ate in the beer garden and had a really nice meal. Breakfast was ok not much choice but sufficient. Would have preferred a continental option to have been available. One problem we had was parking . The hotel no longer has parking spaces due to the expansion of the beer garden . Outside the hotel you are only allowed to park for 45 mins . This was a problem as Broughty Ferry is a nightmare to park and you can end up a distance away from the hotel . Would certainly return though as enjoyed our stay . The owner John is very hands on and very sociable . Blair and hid twin brother Cameron and very friendly and efficient. Though with there face masks on very difficult to tell them apart . Would highly recommend and certainly would book The Fort if we were back in Broughty Ferry .

Really busy and ended up in the bar , the two male waiters couldn’t be nicer , so helpful and friendly , we all had a fantastic meal, I was the only greedy one who had a starter and I’m glad I did the haggis and black pudding fritters were superb and the dressing on the salad was excellent our mains were steak pie, chicken fajitas and chicken goujons , they were all really nice and everyone had a clean plate, next time I’m trying the Mongolian beef the guy at the next table was raving about it. Well worth 5 stars .. compliments to the chef

When we first arrived we were told “our table outside was ready” this was a shock considering when i’d booked i was told it was inside and we were in for a meal. This confusion was quickly rectified and it turns out our table was inside. We sat down on our table once it was “ready.” I have no idea what a “ready” table looks like as it had nothing on it. It felt like we were hounded for a drinks order as we were asked before we had even sat down, once again (this time was the appropriate time), and then once again once we had an order taken. Also when enquiring about the gins on offer the server literally just walked away from the table with no notice to then reappear 30 seconds later with a list of flavours. We finally got our drinks sorted and turned our attention to the menu, now i know this place is really a bar/pub and isn’t exactly fine dining but i would expect more than a menu where i tick the box of the item of food i would like to eat, it felt very strange and on top of things the menu was very limited and almost felt like a children’s menu. Our food came after a short while and we got stuck in. First of all, the food was lukewarm at best, not piping hot as expected from anywhere. The carrots that accompanied one of the dishes weren’t even warm, it was like the whole meal had been underdone in the microwave. The less said about the meal, the better, it was atrocious. We had originally ordered (ticked) a dessert as well but we left this as we just wanted out and dreaded what would come. We left and went down long lane to wetherspoons and enjoyed ourself 10x more. Overall, don’t go here.

Having eaten here many times, we had taken 6 friends on a Sunday afternoon. Our Waitress was Holly who was lovely.
We ordered our food and drinks. Our starters came which we're all fine. When we got our mains they were OK except for one. So we said to our Waitress that the burger was inedible.
So Manageress came over & was very rude & aggressive & said that our table had been 'Checked' which it had for our starters only & wouldn't be taking the inedible burger off the bill. I was so embarrassed by her behaviour in front of our friends with her attitude.
We were just away to order more drinks & deserts but decided just to get the bill which by this time was just under £200.
So instead of taking the inedible £8 burger off the bill she lost out in more money. I'm my eyes not good Manageress tactics.
Won't be back & wouldn't recommend.

We visited for our Mums birthday.
At first the service was ok(ish) as we were told to get everything ordered together as there was going to be a big party in soon.
We asked for our starters to come out with the kids meals which they did after a loooong wait of about 45 mins to an hour we didn’t receive any apology or anyone come to even give us any expectation of how long nor did anyone come and ask if we would like anymore drinks.
Our money is as good as anyone else’s and it seemed that all service and focus went into the larger party, which if this was the case they shouldn’t have taken on our booking.
Our starter came which everyone enjoyed and then we had to wait another 40 mins for our mains to come and by this time the kids had finished their meals and were becoming bored. Genuinely felt like cancelling and just getting a chippy from across the road!
Again, no one apologised or asked so we took it upon ourselves to mention that the service had been shocking, the waitress was taken a back and asked if we would like to speak to a manager but by this time our patience had ran out and we just wanted the bill as might have waited another eternity to speak to a manager!
This is the first time we have had service like this in the Forte so hoping it is a one off but just a note to management that every customers money is as good as any bigger party!

We had to check in at the bar which was very busy therefore it took some time to be served. We were then asked to go to reception. The lovely man took our payment of £160 for the night. This did not include breakfast.
We were then asked to walk along the road to our room which was in another building. It has recently been refurbished and it does look very nice initially.
Unfortunately the shower was not clean and the floor looked as though it had not been cleaned for sometime. There was shaving foam left at the side of the sink cabinet.
The bed was very small and the bedding was poor quality.
I feel many places are charging high end prices for very poor quality.
The bar was always busy and the food is supposed to be very good but we didn’t eat here so can’t comment personally.
We would not return at this price unfortunately.

Just spent an awesome week at the Fort - everything was first class. I have stayed in many other hotels and B&B's in the Dundee area but this Hotel is streets ahead on Value, Customer Service, room quality and the food and bar are top notch.

Special mention must go to all the staff who could not have been friendlier, helpful and interested in what we had been up during our whole stay. John helped with contacts for local service (6 seater taxis, Airport Transfers) and just made everything easier.

If your come to stay in Broughty or Dundee check this place out first

Stayed in a twin room and we were allocated a disabled room. It was ok except for the sink was way to low for us. The heating did not work very well. We were really chilled through out the whole night which resulted in a bad nights sleep. Also the view from the window was all the bins. In the morning a member of staff decided to throw away a bunch of bottles more than a hour before check out time.
Causing lots of noise which scared us. They should have waited until after check out time. I asked the woman at the reception desk to take some money off our hotel rate due to the issues we were having .She said she will have the manager contact us. I also sent an email . The manager never had the courtesy to contact us back. I certainly would not stay at the Fort Hotel again Bad management that does not have the courtesy to contact a customer back regarding a complaint.

We decided to visit Broughty Ferry Dundee and had a day of looking round the shops etc. We got a bit hungry and decided to come into the Fort Hotel. The waitress saw that there was a table and we were seated. I ordered the special of the day which was a chicken curry and the other half had the steak pie. The curry came and I had half chips half rice. I really wasn’t disappointed as the curry was absolutely brilliant. The other half’s steak pie was amazing too. Both of us cleared our plates which is unusual. I guess I will have to bring my family here now. The staff are very friendly food was piping hot and service was brill. I don’t ever give full marks because nothing is perfect but this is a high mark coming from me. Well worth a lunch or tea. The prices are very reasonable too.
