We stayed elsewhere in Moffat, but The Limetree in Hartfell House was where we wanted to eat. It was a quiet evening in the restaurant and most of the tables had not been laid which was a pity and this, coupled with the rather sombre decor made us feel slightly ill at ease. All was well however when presented with...

This was our second stay at Hartfell House on a trip to Scotland and we were not disappointed. I have a very strict diet, due to a wide range of intolerances, which makes me cautious about eating out in restaurants. Prior to my arrival I forwarded the details of my intolerances to Rob & Mhairi who said they would ensure...

Hospitable hosts, lovely room, wonderful food and only 5 minutes walking distance from Moffat centre. Beautiful house with views and very clean. Some parts of the furniture and decor appear to be out of date but fits in with the character of the house. Definitely worthy of its accreditation.

We have stayed here several times en route to the north or while travelling home to Wales; it is a lovely comfortable place to stay with a fabulous restaurant. The location is very close to the A74 but is pretty and quiet while being a couple of minutes away from the centre of Moffat. Rob and Mhairi are very welcoming...

We have stayed at Hartfell House on our holiday journeys to and from the North of Scotland for the last nine years. Hartfell House is well situated in a quiet part of Moffat with good parking. We have always received a warm friendly welcome from the family who run Hartfell House. We find the rooms very comfortable and relaxing, the...

We drove from Oban skirting Glasgow but hopped off the A74 at junction 7 to go down to Moffat on the A701 taking in a few towns and the source of the Tweed river. The drive into Moffat on this road is breathtaking. Moffat itself is a spa town ant the Limetree is a stately house in a ver quiet...

We stayed here as a family for one night. Owners lovely and hotel clean. We were in room 7, furniture a little dated however goes with setting and style of house. Close to town centre therefore easy to walk. Quiet setting with lovely views. Breakfast was good. Excellent value and would stay again and recommend to all.

Stopped for the night on the way North. Really professionally run, with a restaurant punching well above its weight. Breakfast excellent, even down to Black Pudding. Only concern a threadbare carpet in the bedroom, but the good points outweigh this minor fault.

Only stayed here one night, however it was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Had a huge bedroom with lovely views. The property is situated at the end of a cul de sac on a hill above the town 10 minutes walk at most, down to Moffat. Only noise to be heard was the chirping of the birds so ideal if...

We stayed here after being at the Tour De France in Yorkshire. The room was clean and comfortable. The house is a period property and the decor is fairly in keeping with that (not particularly my taste but suits the house). The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. The dining room/restaurant is pleasant if a little austere. However, the food...
