This staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food is excellent with some unusual options on offer. This is my third visit and will always stay here if in the area. Seems to be a stop off for bikers, so there is always a variety of folks to chat

I’ve been returning to the Buccleuch every year since I discovered this gem back in 2004. One of the most remarkable aspects of the Smiths and their hotel, is their genuine aspiration to be the very best. To this end they devote unfailing energy to improve their service year on

Needed a break during a drive from Derbyshire to the Highlands. Unwisely chose this Hotel, although it had good reviews. Booked a table for evening meal, but we were left standing in the busy front of house with two large dogs, getting in everyone's way. There was a free table,

We are local and have loved eating at the Buccleuch. It is usually warm, friendly and welcoming. I have previously left an excellent review. Unfortunately let down tonight. We ate and it was far from busy with only two others dining. The young front of house waiter / barman was

Response from Buccleuch A, Owner at Buccleuch Arms Hotel

Dear espressocharlie, I am so so sorry that you have had a bad experience dining with us. What I really want to do is thank you for bringing this to our attention. Naturally I would have loved the opportunity for one of the owners to have been called down so that we could have made your visit more pleasurable. We do a great deal of training on personal skills and I am always devastated when I do not hit the levels that we try to achieve. These are not words that I am merely putting out to make a bad situation sound better but it is something we truly believe in and try so very hard to make our ethos. If you have come previously as you have indicated, then I would like to think that you have seen this and recognised this as a unique part of the experience with us. This whole review will form the basis of my future trainings and I hope will help me in making sure we achieve a high level of service 'ALL' of the time. If you would like to contact me I would love the opportunity to make good your impressions of our service. I would also like to apologise to you in person.

Hi MasonH25 ... sadly we don't have any ground floor rooms at all. The only areas that are accessible from street level are our function room and toilets approached from the side of the hotel. The main entrance to the hotel and restaurant, and indeed all the rest of the hotel, are accessible by a minimum of about 8 steps with the bedrooms up another flight to the first floor. However, we do have strapping lads who are always available to give a helping hand where needed ... it's been the result of much hilarity in the past and we really don't mind.
