We stayed here for the 1st night of our honeymoon, after booking very last minute on the saturday evening the lady was very helpful and advised us to get food before arriving as nearby eateries would probably be shut by our arrival time (9ish). We picked up a takeaway pizza and on arrival after being shown our room settled down...

We stayed here for one night before our wedding and onward journey to Argyll. Please note its about a mile or two outside of Gretna surrounded by countryside, ideal as we had our daughter and dog with us. The family room we had was clean and spacious with a great power shower. Also flat screen TV and very comfy beds....

I cant understand why there has been 1 bad review about this place, let alone a few, its a little family run B&B in scotland, not londons ritz, if you want someone to do everything including breath for you, this really isnt the place, but if you want a warm, friendly welcome. A fantastic nights sleep on the comfy beds,...

We stayed on route to the Isle of Skye. Lovely garden, shame about the owner's car that was so dirty that it had soil on the roof! There was an unfresh smell that permeated the house and especially our bathroom. However, the bedroom was clean and comfortable, if a little dated. There was a flat screen TV and a nice...

Found Barrasgate clean and comfortable, the owners (and their dogs) were very friendly. The breakfast was noteworthy for using delicious local ingredients including eggs from their own hen house! Was really impressed by the quality of the rooms, great value for money. I Will be going back on my frequent visits up north.

I stayed here as part of a tour of the local area. From the moment I got there, nothing was too much trouble even though they were busy welcoming other guests. The owners were chatty and took an interest in my travels, they showed me local maps and books and pointed out places of interest. My room was lovely and...

We have just returned from a holiday in Scotland. We stayed at Barrasgate for the final 2 nights. Joan and Alan are pleasant enough people. They had no Kippers on the breakfast menu even though the webiste boasted having them. To be fair they went out and bought a kipper for day 2. The overall standard of cooking was poor....

I am sorry they were disappointed after their stay with us. I wish they had made us aware of any problems at the time. We do not boast about kippers any more than eggs and bacon they were only part of a breakfast menu. Our web pages are there as a guide to the meals we usually serve. We do...

I am writing this in response (and retaliation!) to the poor review which is featured on this page. My partner and I stayed in March and couldn't fault the guest house. The owners are a very sweet couple who couldn't be more helpful and the rooms are spotless. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable and the location very convenient but...

“All rooms seem good, there is a good book shelf with a good selection of reading material, these rooms are in someones' house, a big house by the way and very comfortable indeed, a good place to stay regularly if you work away from home in this area, great value for money”
