Part of an old car club weekend. Loved the Cally Palace for its grandeur without the pretensions that often accompany such edifices. Rooms were enormous and well-turned-out; the food was more than adequate, and the setting unbelievably picturesque. The staff were a major attraction; efficient but friendly. The set meal for a large group went like clockwork.

Our club for old Riley cars occupied the whole hotel very recently and all 120 of us thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay. The space was more than enough to cater for our 66 cars. The location is magnificent and the hotel is in excellent condition throughout; it has great 'presence', it is an outstanding example of the country house and...

This was our third year here and the hotel remains an enigma a bit like a Scottish version of an ancestral Fawlty Towers. We will however be coming back again next year, but I'm not quite sure exactly why?! So here are my thoughts and experiential learnings to help you know what to expect and manage the experience. Like roses,...

Just returned from a three night break. Price for Dinner B&B and a round of golf each day was excellent. My wife and I had been here a number of years ago and found the place very much unchanged. Our room was an excellent size and well appointed, though the en suite was a wee bit cramped. Food in the...

As a long established golf society who have regular outings we always return to Cally Palace for our Spring event as the accommodation, golf course and general ambiance of the hotel are excellent. If you choose the right weekend their Saturday Night Dinner Dance is a mix of classic, Scottish and some contemporary music suitable for 40+ and the bar...

We elected an upgrade to our room and were very pleasantly surprised with a separate sitting room, overlooking golf course from front and side windows. Amazing. This hotel is more like a country house hotel. The staff were just wonderful, attending to your every need. Wide variety of choices for breakfast including smoked haddock and proper kippers. The four course...

After many years of visiting this marvellous old style hotel with beautiful grounds it was disappointing to report a drop off in the standards of the cuisine. What a place to chill out! This year the golf course and grounds were marvellous with stunning growth and improvement in the greens and overall presentation. However, what a let down in the...

Excellent friendly and efficient staff from every department. Very good room, menu choice and quality of food at dinner excellent, breakfasts superb. Golf course condition good but must keep to the centre of the fairways, very attractive lay out but rough that sucks in your golf balls. Green staff excellent and courteous. Having stayed in hundreds of hotels this is...

This is a lovely old fashioned hotel with attached golf course. The hotel is very grand and our room was spacious with a balcony and great view. It has a pool and a very small gym but no spa. The only problem we had was our age, this hotel is great if you are over 65 but as we are...
