First time visitors to the Ship Inn and have to say well impressed! My husband and I spent one night in the superior room and the decor was fresh and the work done in the room was to a high standard, would not hesitate to go back. An absolutely beautiful hotel. In fact it is like a boutique hotel inside. Decor is lovely and rooms are equipped to a very high standard. Even had a cafe gusto machine! Shower was brilliant and all fixtures and fittings were high quality. Owner very pleasant and helpful as were all staff. Breakfast in morning was fantastic. Lovely fresh orange juice...

My friends and I stayed here for a Saturday evening, Johnathan and his colleague Wendy made us very welcome. Nothing was to much trouble, good food and drinks. I left some stuff in room and Johnathan kindly posted it to me the next working day. Thanks hope to stay again!

The Ship Inn has been fully modernised and is very homely. The bedrooms are large and fully equipped. Jonathan the owner is very friendly and likeable. We had breakfast while we were there and it was lovely. You can also have an evening meal by prior arrangement with Jonathon. The seating area has a wood burning stove that was lit...

I stayed here whilst visiting a friend. Really nice welcome and the room was great. If I had any gripes it would be that the breakfast whilst cooked fresh and to order, there just isn't enough. Without the tomato or mushroom I ended up with bacon sausage and egg. I was hungover anyway to be fair so could eat much...

Jamie, Our menu states that we can add to the full breakfast with items such as haggis, black or white pudding, square sausage on request, or provide more of what you want. Most guests don't want anything too heavy as standard. The standard cooked breakfast comes with either poached, boiled, fried or scrambled egg and includes potato scone, 2 rashers...

Stayed here over this weekend 18th-20th and I can't recommend the ship inn highly enough. We travelled down from Glasgow on a busy Friday night and with traffic and wintery weather hampering us we were quite late down however Jonathan had kindly given us a phone earlier to check our progress and eta. On arrival we were quickly shown to...

The bedrooms are nice, however, found an old sticky chocolate bar in my bedside drawer. Owner is friendly, helpful and kind - when around - came back a couple of times and no one was there to assist when my door pass was not working. I would advise that the place is advertised more as rooms and breakfast - no...

Debbie Thank you for your honest feedback. By way of response I recall problems with your room card but generally this only ever happens when it is placed in close proximity to credit cards/mobile phones and is an issue with all remote access cards - nonetheless I appreciate this caused you inconvenience. Mobile phone reception from one provider in Gatehouse...

One of the best small hotels we've stayed in. The room had everything you would need for an overnight stay, the breakfast was excellent, but most of all the hospitality shown by Jonathon was second to none. He gave us loads of information about local walks and points of interest, and even let us take his guide book away while...
