What a lovely hotel, set in fabulous grounds, with friendly staff and spotlessly clean. We were here for 2 nights and ate in the restaurant both nights and breakfasts. The food was very good although they are training several new staff members who are charming and very friendly if a little disorganised at times. It’s well worth exploring the grounds and walking the lower road into Dumfries through the Parks. There are also several electric vehicle charge points within a 5 mins walk within the lovely grounds (I am not sure why they don’t advertise this since it’s a real bonus for us EV drivers)

We have just arrived at HI Dumfries. No complimentary biscuits or water in our room. Photo of room online showed a sofa but we only have one chair! Can’t find the stated fridge in room either. When did all of this stop? So far not impressed but let’s see how dinner is. Will update

On arrival we were informed to order our evening meal from our room and to make a time .As we arrived in the restaurant on the set time and were shown to our table after 20 minute a member of staff approached us with menus to order our meal and then we were told our order was never forwarded on to to the chef and they would try to rush our order through which took another half an hour to top if off my wife could not cut the pork as it was totally overcooked.Breakfast in the morning is like being served in a refugee camp no crockery everything in a plastic container plastic knifes and forks cardboard cups for tea no cereals ,toast or jams.We did not go in for breakfast on our second day or for dinner we ate out not a four star hotel

Excellent stay in this lovely hotel set amongst a beautiful country estate style setting. Our room was spotless with what appeared to be a new deep pile carpet and freshly decorated. Bed was super comfy and room service was very efficient. Hotel restaurant was lovely with friendly staff and food was great too. Can't wait to return!!

Another stay at this hotel and no disappointments again. Covid measures were excellent, room large and comfortable, staff very helpful (small issue with the bill at checkout but speedily resolved) added bonus is the hotel is set amongst amazing grounds. Restaurant very pleasant and comfortable and they offer an exceptional breakfast, definitely 5*. Would definitely recommend and I would happily return.
