Have enjoyed a bar supper here on a few occasions. It has always been good freshly cooked to order. The stall are pleasant and friendly. Prices are very good for the quality received. Hope to be back at some point in the future.
We didn't stay here but we were looking for somewhere for dinner and everywhere was full but stumbled accross this and I'm.so glad we did, it's just a very small dining room which I like, not busy and overwhelming, the women that served us was lovely, and the food was just wow, my husband had crispy chicken with sweet and sour sauce to start and they were huge and delicious, I had brie wedges that were just perfect, we both had fish and chips, huge portions and the batter was perfection, I would go as far as saying the best fish and chips I have ever had, my husband had cheese cake and I had fudge cake, again absolutely amazing, I am so glad we found this wee place and huge compliments to the chef, we will be back. My only Complaint is that I found it so hard to choose because It all looked amazing when I seen everything come out for other tables haha …
We Stayed here one night when we were in Melrose for our daughter graduation . Got room 4 large double bed and a single bed with sofa and and a chair it was very spacious and clean . Staff were very welcoming and friendly and the breakfast was excellent .
My wife and I spent a couple of nights at the Hotel, in room number 5. Room was dated and small, but the bathroom was large and recently renovated. All of the staff were very friendly, breakfast good and evening meal reasonable for pub food. The Hotel was good value for money, likely to be cheaper than most other hotels in the town. Location good and plenty to do around the town for a short stay. Our only concern / complaint was that, on the 2nd night, there was a continuous noise above our room - sounded as though a tv / radio had been left on? - that went on all through the night and obviously affected our sleep. Other than that, all fine.
Booked a one night stay over to break up journey home. Offered room 2 which had an outside extractor fan outside the window which was very noisy making it impossible to relax in the room. Hotel was unable to offer an alternative room and unwilling to give a refund. Needless to say we won’t be back
Called in for a few drinks whilst staying in Melrose last week. Very friendly welcome from the landlord on entering, served good drinks at very reasonable prices and the locals in the pub were also very friendly to us, would definitely go back in there if in Melrose in the future.
The Hotel is located right in the centre of Melrose. It’s an average hotel with one awful room - and that was given to me. Although not fully booked at all, I had to stay in room no. 2. It had a window with frosted glas and even worse a huge ventilation directly in front of the window running loud from early morning until evening. So there was no chance to open the window during this time. The room (and the bathroom) need some renovation as well. Breakfast was okay.
Booked a same day stay as decided to extend visit to Melrose, called into bar and we were Shown room prior to booking, staff very accommodating. Booked for 2 adults and a child, stayed in room with 2 singles and sofa bed which was made up for our return. Comfy night sleep. Whole place and bedroom very clean. Bathroom spotless. Breakfast requests given at time of booking and were served in restaurant at requested time. Staff very friendly. Very good value for money, will highly recommend and will stay again. Stayed in large local hotel previous night, over priced and breakfast no where near as good. Wish we have known about this place prior as we would have stayed both nights here. Thank you
I stayed for one night while walking the Southern Upland Way, booked through Absolute Escapes. The room I had was good, it was large enough, clean, comfortable and had everything I needed. There wasn't much natural light though as the windows were heavily frosted. The evening meal wasn't very good, the Lasagne was overdone and very dry. Breakfast was much better though, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
We stayed one night at the start of St Cuthbert's Way. The staff were friendly & helpful , but I wouldn't stay here again. The pillows were HARD, we couldn't have an early breakfast instead we were offered a packed lunch, no choice of content, out of date Muffin etc. The decor is odd, e.g. dark net curtains.
