A homely and atmospheric hotel. The rooms are good, clean and with en suite. The staff are friendly and helpful and do credit to the hotel. Evening meal in a packed restaurant (always a good sign) was delicious and the breakfast was hearty. Definitely would stay again.
This hotel was extremely homely and all the staff are a credit to the owners. We booked two single rooms for a night whilst visiting family in Melrose. We received a warm welcome at check-in. Our bedrooms were cosy and very clean both with en-suite. The breakfast was outstanding both in terms of quality ingredients and probably the most attentive breakfast staff I have experienced. We will most definitely be staying here again when in the area. The hotel has an old fashioned charm which is all to rare nowadays.
Great little hotel! Stayed here 3 nights while on a walking holiday. Rooms were comfortable and quiet. Good selection for breakfast as well. Ate at the restaurant one night and had a good meal. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Another wonderful stay in Burts, this time with offspring. The dining room has crisp white table cloths, starched napkins and fabulous glasses. The dinner was superb as were our wines. Anne our waitress was lovely. We loved our stay in this superb town and are already planning our next stay. Thank you Nick and Trish. You run a wonderful hotel.
From start to finish, we all thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Burt’s immensely. First class service, not overly done (what a relief!) that ensured we were looked after perfectly. Food was magnificently presented and tasted just as good. Great ambiance as ever in this very well established Melrose eatery. Bravo to Nick, Trish and all the team - great job, thank you!
Staying locally in a holiday cottage so decided to call at Melrose for an evening meal. Hadn’t booked and with our dog Charlie in tow, we enquired if we could dine in and were happy that we could. Very friendly staff that made us very welcome and Charlie as well. Very good choice on menu but decided on Belly pork starter for myself and daughter, soup for my Husband. Mains were coconut chicken goujons with wedges, cheese burger and chicken breast stuffed with haggis. Everything was faultless and portions were ample. Daughter had to take her burger away with her as she was really full after the starter. Our evening was very enjoyable and would not hesitate to return and highly recommend.
A very enjoyable stay at Burts - thank you. Our room was surprisingly large & very comfortable. Friendly staff on arrival & at breakfast. We also enjoyed a lovely evening meal in the restaurant. A great location in the centre of Melrose with convenient parking located behind.
I have stayed at Burts twice now. Each time the stand-out areas for me are: Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, well-finished rooms too in terms of the detail: grouting in bathrooms, wall finishes, cornicing, paintwork, all things that often get worn and bashed by guests over time, but at Burts, they are in a very fine state of repair. The food is just great, both at breakfast and dinner. The location is superb, right on the market square. Can't fault it. Highly recommend it.
We spent three nights here on a DBB basis. The room was on the small side but well appointed with good linen. The food was first rate and the staff and owner welcoming and efficient. Two minuses. The bathroom though good sized and clean, could do with an upgrade. I get that as it stands it fits in with the ambience , but I think nowadays people expect modern fittings with a self contained shower, not a bath with a curtain. Having to walk out of the hotel and through the car park to get to the beer garden at dinner time was also a bit of a nuisance. Subject to the above we thoroughly recommend this place.
A 20cl bottle of Prosecco is £10.95 !!!! £6 in all other local hotels and bars. When raised with the on duty manger her comment was well we won’t see you again!!! Obviously not with this attitude. It’s incredible that a hotel manager could be so rude and dismissive.
