This was our 2nd visit to Barn @ the Coachouse and it was every bit as wonderful as we remembered. Claire and Donald are lovely hosts and gave us a warm welcome on an unplanned short notice booking. The property itself is beautiful in its own grounds with private parking directly outside the main house. Our room was lovely; spacious, luxurious and well appointed with lots of little extras that made our stay feel special. The bed is comfortable and the shower great. Breakfast was absolutely delicious; plentiful and well cooked using high quality produce. The setting was great too, each room has their own individual private dining area. Barn @ the Coachouse is a must if in the area and a special treat if not. We will definitely return and would thoroughly recommend Thank you so much Claire and Donald, It was nice chatting to you and swapping stories. And thank you for the tips for our onward journey. We hope to stay with you again in the future…
This has to be one of the best places we have ever stayed. On arrival you are greeted buy a beautiful building in lovely gardens. The hosts are so welcoming and helpful prior to and during your stay. The room is wow just wow, large spacious on the mezzanine floor. Well equipped and spotlessly clean. Large TV in the room and comfy chairs as well as an extra little bedroom you have a large very comfy bed. Then there is the breakfast which was outstanding. The only negative was I didn't stay long enough !!!! Can't wait to go back.
We have had a wonderful 2 night stay at this beautiful B&B. The accommodation is fabulous and of a very high standard with everything you could need or want. Claire is the perfect hostess where nothing is too much trouble…..she makes makes you so very welcome and breakfast, cooked by Donald, is of a very high standard. This is the B&B equivalent of a five star hotel. Thank you Claire and Donald for a fabulous stay.
This destination is worth every one of its Scottish Tourist Board four stars. Handily situated on the road to the Highlands and located in a quiet road on the edge of town, the impressively renovated house and outhouses stand in their own spacious grounds, with plentiful safe parking for all. The price is not cheap but the quality of the accommodation amply justifies this, and the easy-going hosts could not be more pleasant. A couple of maintenance issues aside, we could not have been more comfortable, the lovely beds and the luxurious towels being a highlight. The kitchen was fully equipped and wonderfully spacious and made food preparation very easy. Complimentary hot drinks and a welcoming biscuit would have been a welcome touch. The cottages are self-catering only and therefore do not include breakfast: a pity, given their reputed standard! All in all, the Barn at Melrose is a gem of a place, and we would not hesitate to to book again, should our travels bring us up North in the future.…
We had a lovely stay here and the breakfast was quite the best of our holiday. Our hosts were charming and very helpful arranging safe storage for our bikes and recommending an excellent restaurant locally . All in all a beautiful house and stay
A very warm welcome from Claire. The bed was excellent according to my wife - the best of the holiday. Lots of nice touches in the bedroom - coffee bags for example. Excellent breakfast including home-made granola. We would definitely stay again.
Claire and Donald were exceptionally friendly and welcoming hosts who made us feel like one of the family from the moment we arrived. The Coach House is a beautiful home set in extensive grounds, about 20 mins walk from the centre of Melrose. The tastefully decorated guest accommodation was spotlessly clean with an excellent selection of toiletries, teas, coffees and biscuits provided to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Breakfast was amazing with Claire’s delicious homemade granola (we came home with the recipe), Greek yoghurt and berries to start followed by Donald’s first rate cooked breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and cannot recommend The Barn highly enough. Would definitely book again if we were in the area. Genuinely 10/10 for everything.
Just back from two nights. Best way to sum it up is that when we go back to Melrose we definitely intend to stay here. Wonderful setting and hospitality. Claire is indeed a Superhost! 😃 Lovely walk from accommodation to centre of Melrose which itself is an exceptional destination
This is a really lovely bed and breakfast, run by charming hosts, who make you feel very much at home. We could not fault the room, the decor, the shared lounge facility or the breakfast. So much attention had been paid to the small details, to ensure a thoroughly enjoyable stay. We were able to walk into Melrose in order to have a nice dinner, and the town itself was extremely attractive. It is the perfect stopover in the Borders.
A real gem, close to the centre of Melrose, but far enough away to feel beautifully tranquil and rural. High quality accommodation, the breakfasts are to die for and if there was anything you could think of that wasn’t in your room or available, Claire would get it for you. they are an amazing source of local information. Absolutely wonderful few days in this part of Scotland.
