We arrived on a Tuesday evening and were nicely welcomed by Annabelle, who was working behind the bar, serving food and acting as the receptionist. We were hungry so asked to see the menu, unfortunately, the chef had left the previous Saturday but the two choices available were well presented and nicely cooked. We were shown to our room which...

We stayed here in two Motorhomes, with electric hook up and water point provided. There were two families and as we ate in the restaurant there was no charge for the stopover. The car park isn't huge so we'd booked it in advance - although we were the only ones in. There was a bit of confusion with the restaurant...

I'm a travelling engineer, I work a very physical job and I need a good meal at the end of a hard day's work in the cold. Everything on the menu was pretentious and overpriced. Jus this and truffle that. A "suggestion" of parmesan? Really? It's a pub in the middle of nowhere. So I had to order the fish...

Management response:

you did not have to order the fish and chips if you could not afford £9.50 for locally sourced (not frozen) fish you could have gone elsewhere we are not a pub in the middle of nowhere neither do we serve over priced food you picked only three items for breakfast the full breakfast was available to you on the...

I stayed here for a night on business and what a delight. I checked in and settled down in the lounge area to do some work - I was surprised to be presented with a delicious slice of homemade cake and coffee, what a treat! The owners are a lovely couple who are doing a fantastic job of renovating this...

Using a Voucher purchased from ITISON: My Wife and I plus our two Labradors had to cancel a previous booking we made at The Horse and Hound in JULY 2016 . The Hotel owners were very sorry that the circumstances meant we couldn't arrange our stay on the dates we had chosen however, they informed us that our stay could...

The pub is peaceful and relaxing which boast a very charming rustic atmosphere. The food served is very good also which is tasty and quickly...

Unfortunately our stay was only for one night, we were traveling down south from the north of Scotland and decided to break our journey I had purchased a deal through ITISON which was an excellent deal. The Inn was comfortable and warm, the room was clean and had everything that is required and the breakfast was delicious. My only grumble...

Decided to have a wee weekend away from home & decided to book The Horse & Hound having read the reviews. We were not disappointed. We had lovely meals, they are obviously used to catering for Borders folk as the portion sizes were huge. It was good wholesome home cooked food. The Inn is going through a refit which was...

We had a lovely two night stay at this clean and cosy Inn. It was a birthday present from my daughter & excellent value for money through an Itison voucher. Room 8 was comfortable as was the bed. It was at the rear of the property and it was very quiet. The food was good with limited but adequate choice...

Stayed here for a long weekend recently. Room was clean and well-appointed with a comfy bed. Ensuite shower room was fine, except that there wasn't a lot of power in the shower, may be a water pressure issue though. The restaurant food was good, although they stop serving at 8pm. 2 veggie options which didn't change and were both pasta;...
