A great hotel with friendly staff. The room was comfortable with lovely views towards Abbotsford house and the Eildon Hills. We held our AGM and AGM dinner here and were very well taken care of. Thank you to all the hotel staff. The food was excellent, compliments to the chef and his/her team. A thank you also to Lene who helped to co-ordinate our many differing requests. Which made it a very successful weekend. Tip:Try the eggs Florentine for a veggie breakfast, they were delicious!
Fantastic staff, fantastic food, fantastic service. Nothing was too much trouble, staff all went above and beyond. Lovely location with beautiful gardens, and the rooms are well decorated. Great communication before arrival. Will definately be back!
Recently stayed 2 nights so that we could visit the Scottish Tapestry in nearby Galashiels. Also visited Abbotsford House (home of Sir Walter Scott), Melrose & Peebles. Hotel ideally placed for all of these. Experience in hotel very good too. Friendly and helpful staff. Freshly decorated standard room on 2nd floor was a good size with a large bathroom recently refurbished. Lovely soft towels provided. We ate in the bar both evenings (see menus) and quality/quantity of food was very good. (to access Bar from hotel we had to walk past kitchen area - only a minor inconvenience) Breakfasts didn't disappoint either.
Stayed 4 nights in this attractive red sandstone hotel. Our suite of rooms were extremely spacious, clean and comfortable. Good views over the gardens. Quiet and peaceful. We particularly enjoyed the bath, shape just worked for a lovely soak. Breakfast was served in the morning room, views across the grounds, lots of choice, my favourites being prunes in sweet juice and great poached eggs. Excellent service. Bar and restaurant food and drinks highly recommended too.
As soon as we sat down the staff were attentive, the menu had a good selection, the quality of the meal was excellent and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Well done chef and waiter. From a disabled viewpoint it was good that I could park close to the entrance.
This was our 2nd stay at the Kingsknowes Hotel, it was originally fully booked but upon contacting the hotel directly they offered us a room for 2 that they usually only sell to 1 person however upon arrival the room was very spacious and had all the facilities you would expect- if they hadn’t have said we wouldn’t have known! The grounds and views are wonderful, it’s a great location for visits to Melrose and local walks, but also Edinburgh via train or park and ride- we spent a day at the fringe! We had dinner in the restaurant which was great, food was delicious and service was spot on. The best part was the breakfast which we would go back for just to have it again - a great hotel with great staff
Stayed here for a couple of nights recently. We had a beautiful large room on the top floor with lovely views over the hotel gardens. Rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds, tea and coffee facilities and fresh towels daily. Staff are amazing and nothing is to much trouble. Its a family run hotel and the hotel owner is very accommodating and there to talk to if needed. Great parking facilities, food is tasty with a good menu and decent portion sizes, bar open in the evenings with a choice of drinks. The hotel was busy when we went but was always quiet never heard anyone or anything when in our room. Will definitely be returning. Hotel is very reasonable. One improvement would be is to allow well behaved dogs into the hotel again so people with dogs can stay here.
We spent three nights at the Kingsknowes Hotel at Galashiels. We were very impressed with everything about the hotel. Our room was very spacious with beautiful views. A lovely large bathroom. We ate in the restaurant each night and the choices on the menu was excellent . The staff made us very welcome and they were friendly and very efficient. A great hotel and we will definitely return on our next trip to The Borders.
