Can't fault the accommodation, great size of room , very clean . The Black sheep pub attached to the hotel has a nice atmosphere and good food , and liked the menu better than the hotel restaurant, it was also quicker service....???. Breakfast was as you would expect..... We had a walk around the town at night some great pubs .......

My travelling companion and I ate the the Royal Hotel two nights ago. After a Glen Scotia scotch in the Black Sheep pub (at the front of the hotel) we moved to the very attractive dining room. Its a little complicated as to the names of each of the restaurants etc, but they are all owned by the same group....

Room was clean and spacious. Hotel in general was very clean and well kept. Our only gripe is the £5 admin charge added to the bill. When did anyone else see such a thing at a hotel. You pay top dollar for your room and then this - we were told it was to cover wifi and the golf shuttle...

This was a last minute booking for us. We were really surprised how nice the room and food was. Friendly staff, well priced and nice and clean. Situated right at the harbour in Campbeltown. It has a pub within the hotel. The potential only issue is no hotel parking, however parking at the roadside outside the hotel is available and...

We stayed in Campbeltown for two nights and booking a hotel was worrying. There are a few in town and wasn't sure which to book but read the earlier reviews and plumped for the Royal. So glad we did. We walked past most of the others and they looked in dire need of refurbishment. The Royal was very clean and...

We stayed at the Royal for two nights in late August. This is a luxury hotel at a mid-range price, probably due to the out of the way location near the end of the Kintyre Peninsula. The package we had included bed and breakfast, golf and a soup and sandwich lunch at the golf clubhouse. The bed was big and...

Warm welcome and room was ready early as requested. It just got better....beautiful room, large comfortable bed and spacious bathroom with all areas of the hotel spotless. We ate in both the Black Sheep and main restaurant where we had excellent service and great choice and quality of food. This is a great base to explore all the surrounding areas...

One night stop-over and wished it was longer. A really lovely, big, bright and airy room over-looking the square and the harbour means there's lots to look at. Large, comfortable beds, tea/coffee making facilities, lots of soft, fluffy towels and bathrobes. Immaculately presented and spotlessly clean. Okay, it's not TL or PI prices but if you can, treat yourself, you'll...

I popped in for a quick bite of lunch and have to say I was very impressed. The waiting staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble...a pleasant surprise these days. I ordered Cullen Skink - for the record it's an old traditional Scottish dish with Smoked Haddock, Potatoes, Onions & Cream. It really was excellent, full of flavour...
