Had received a vouchers for afternoon tea and had really looked forward to it, sadly although the location and the venue are lovely, the afternoon tea was simply okay. I have a special diet ( gluten free) I received a couple gluten free sandwiches on horrible bread, ( seriously you can purchase nice gluten free bread ) and some wrapped...

Thank you for your comments, and I am disappointed you felt our Gluten Free breads and cakes were un-satisfactory. Give the importance of food intolerances and various dietary requests, we enlisted a specific Company called Honeybuns, and packaged a complete Gluten Free Afternoon Tea utilising their range of products. The integrity of the Gluten Free Afternoon Tea is further endorsed...

We stayed for wedding reception and had a lovely time. The meal we were served was delicious as was the supper later int he the evening. The beverages available were great from some nice gins to cocktails. Our room was clean and the bed was so large and comfortable we hardly met each other in the night! Breakfast was reasonably...

Lovely room, friendly staff and nice food. Quite lively on a Sat night but that didn't bother me at all as I was enjoying it 😊 My only criticism would be the donkey speed wifi Amazing stay, would come again in a heartbeat. PS breakfast was amazing and was on till 11 on a Sunday (more hotels should keep breakfast...

Nice Boutique hotel. It has an in-House restaurant which is quite popular during lunch and dinner. The room we got was also lovely and modern, except noise from the street below us (We were on the 1st floor) seeps easily into the room. There are a few bars and pubs opposite and the music and people talking can be heard....

Thank you for your comments and pleased you had an enjoyable stay. We are a city centre location amongst 26 bars which on some weekend evening our historical building listing prevents us form having double glazing. It is seldom such noise affects our guests, however we place the ear-plugs in the rooms purely as a 'gimmick'. We hope you have...

Very comfortable stay. Room was spacious with some quirky touches. Very large bed. Tv with dtv no satellite. Didn't have breakfast or evening meal but good selection at reasonable price. Afternoon tea look good. Would definitely recommend

We had mixed expectations before our visit to The Carmelite due to the varied reviews. There also appeared to be a mix up of the comments about the hotel & bar. On arrival you have to check-in at bar which I'm never keen on however there is a side bit for reception. The check-in was easy and staff very friendly....

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive comments. We take note of your pre-concerns on what mixed reviews we have. Carmelite is quite a quirky environment, and can be quite busy in the catering areas on weekends which may confuse arrivals especially looking for a dedicated reception desk. We only have 50 rooms and feel the current...

The hotel is in a good location, only a 5 minute walk from the train station. The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel itself is clean and tidy. The restaurant area is well decorated and the food is very good. The room itself was quite basic but it had all it needed for a nights stay and the...

Stayed here for one night and pretty good value for city centre. Easy walk from station and Union Square. Parking a bit of a lottery as they had no spaces available but that's an Aberdeen problem. Room was fine but addition of tea/ coffee facilities would be appreciated. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast although not included was good and there is...

My sister and I decided to book the Scrumptious Afternoon Tea as an early Mother's Day treat for our Granny and Mum before heading to the theatre. We arrived 15 minutes early and were seated away from all of the other customers at a table with no table cloth (randomly the only one) at the back of the room to...

This was a beautiful hotel that simply compliments how beautiful the City of Aberdeen is. Stunning rooms. Bathroom was as big as the bedroom. Nice view Into the streets of Aberdeen but still private. 5*

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Carmelite is neatly positioned in the centre of Aberdeen's Merchant Quarter, which is adjacent to the transport hub of rail, bus, coach stations and harbour. The Merchant Quarter is the "grown up" area of the city, full of independent bars and restaurants, and surrounded by the city's 5 under-cover retail shopping centres. An historical Grade B listed building dating back to mid 1800's, Carmelite has undergone major refurbishment program over recent years, introducing a boutique environment on the ground floor of Carmelite Bar & Grill, whilst the 50 bedrooms offer a mix of "Designer" Suites and rooms on the 1st floor, "Dapper" rooms refurbished end of 2012, on the 2nd floor and comfortable standard rooms on the 3rd floor. These enable attractive rates to suit all budgets. Aberdeen is a commercial city, with limited accommodation mid-week, however weekends offer some fantastic deals making an alternative visitor experience very affordable. The 6 Suites are all different, and very quirky - from round beds in turrets, and gigantic sleigh beds, all designer rooms have cast iron baths, monsoon showers. The "Dapper" rooms have un-cluttered designs with a mix of large monsoon shower rooms, double ended steel baths (some designed with 'no taps'), and black-out window blinds. All the bespoke furniture in these rooms were made by A social Enterprise Company in Dundee, called Dovetail. The 3rd floor standard rooms, although not yet refurbished, offer clean, comfortable accommodation, still with all the usual amenities. All rooms have luxury beds made locally by Social Enterprise Aberdeen Company called Glencraft. Designer "Anatomicals" or "Keiji" bath products, 32/40" LED Samsung Freeview TVs, as well as clocks, iPhone docking stations, tea/coffee making facilities, and most rooms with iron and ironing boards. A room service menu is available during restaurant times. The ground floor also is a boutique environment, quirky with a large open plan lounge and dining area, with informal comfy sofas, a Baby Grand Piano playing at weekends, and a dining 4 Poster Bed. The comprehensive bar menu offers superb cocktails, 12 champagnes, and extensive wine and drinks as well as a bar nibbles food options. Menus cover breakfast and brunch from a "Wake Up till Noon" menu, then an A'la Carte "All Day Menu" available from 12noon through till dinner. There is a Shoppers Menu available till 5pm each day with £8 main courses, and a Market Menu options each evening. There are two event rooms, Library and Balmoral for delegates up to 120, private dining to 50 diners, and Mad Hatter Tea Parties from 20 people. Intoxicating Afternoon Teas are a specialty, as well as Rock & Roll Parties in the 4 Poster Bed. Free wi-fi is available throughout the building, with a PC available for guests' use in the library. ... more   less
