Detailed Reviews
Myself and my grandfather stayed at Laburnum Lodge for three nights in August 2014.
Laburnum Lodge in the words of my grandfather himself was "the finest house to stay in Derry to stay in!"
This is truly a beautiful house, close to Derry's city centre and is welcoming, comfortable and certainly homelike.
Words simply do not describe the experience both Teresa & Donal McCay gave to the two of us. Teresa a Co. Donegal native, had great time for my grandfather as did Donal who kept him happy with stories from the past and they hit it off instantly. Teresa showed a real interest in the both of us and it honestly felt like they was old friends we haven't seen for some time. Donal was more than happy to have two ex pat Derry men staying, and shared with us a variety of books on the history of Derry.
Donal cooked a more than perfect traditional Irish breakfast every morning, and would spare his time to make conversation. Teresa too, full of the craic. It was also very nice to have people who understood what "what about ye hye" means and use to the phrase "How's it going."
Staying here reminded me why the people of Derry and Donegal are so very special.
The room was spacious, very clean and accompanied with a nice view. The very small critique would be the TV. It was a tad small and difficult to watch without having to lie down. However, there wasn't much need to watch TV as the craic was ninety.
Laburnum Lodge is the number one place to stay if you are looking for an enjoyable, relaxed and entertaining stay in Derry. The owners have great time for you, and are more than happy to give advice in where to visit. You are assured of a good nights sleep, a good breakfast and a really good cup of tea.
Staying here and with Donal and Teresa, made my visit home to Derry exceptional. I wish I could of stayed longer. My Grandfather was also delighted and still sings their praises.

Laburnum Lodge was the first of several B&Bs we stayed at in Ireland, and overall was the best. The key to our rating is undoubtedly Teresa and Donal, not only for their friendly helpful style, but also for helping us out when our car had an issue late one night. They made us feel like friends from afar, and we also noticed that they gave another guest the distance and space he preferred. The house has a lounge for the use of the guests, which is set up with comfortable chairs,a TV and computer for guest use. The bedrooms have very comfortable beds and the en-suite was well set up. Breakfast was very good, served promptly and hot. I would not hesitate to recommend this B&B to anyone visiting Derry.

Nice B&B, no complaints about the rooms, friendly folks running the place and decent enough breakfast. Handy for the airport but a good bit away from the main attractions of Derry for my liking.

This place was located close to a main intersection. We had a small struggle finding it because of the names of streets, but noting of their fault. This location was convenient to exploring Londonderry. The hosts were accommodating and breakfast was just as ordered (Donal has a good memory) The dining area has a big screen TV where we watched world cup in the late afternoon. There is tea and coffee available at all times in this room. Also in the dining room was a selection of "the troubles" books with lots of pictures that we looked through. Bath had on-demand hot water which was wonderful. Rooms were nice. Theresa had a lot of tips. The Sainsbury around the corner is a great grocery to pick up a few nibbles.

This is a beautiful B&B. We stayed here two week-day nights in September. The rooms are immaculate and thoughtfully furnished and the food is exceptional. However, the very best part of this B&B is the owners, Donal and Teresa. They absolutely could not do enough for us. They provided advice on what to see, where to go, and how to do it. Teresa called a taxi, and told the driver exactly where to take us in Derry. They recommended excellent restaurants and repeated directions as many times as we needed. Although they obviously have very busy lives, they never hesitated to stop and help us with our questions. Our last day, they went above and beyond what anyone could have expected. My husband is an insulin dependent diabetic, and he discovered that he was missing one of his bottles of insulin. Donal took him to a doctor for a script and to a chemist to get the insulin. What could have been a disaster, turned into just a delay in our departure. We cannot thank Donal and Teresa for all they did for us. If you want to enjoy your stay Derry, this is the place to do it.

My daughter and I stayed three nights at Laburnum Lodge. The owners, Teresa and Donal could not have done anything more to make our stay enjoyable. From the initial phone call to book, until the morning we left, Teresa and Donal were warm, welcoming, friendly and helpful. They clearly take great pride in accommodating each guest's individual wishes and were very flexible with timings for us.
Our room was spotless, nicely furnished and very comfortable, breakfast superb, the location great..suburban enough be relaxing but only 10 mins in a taxi to the centre of the thriving City of Derry.
We enjoyed some lively conversations genuinely feel we have made new friends, and will definitely stay again.

So glad we discovered Teresa and Donal's excellent Laburnum Lodge. Incredible hosts who make you feel part of their family. Lovely B&B that is spotlessly clean and great breakfast to wake up too.
Great nights chatting away to them both and we are looking to return as soon as possible.
Lovely part of the world and easy access to both the stunning North Antrim coastline and glorious Donegal.

My friend and I went on a whirlwind driving trip through Ireland and decided to find places to stay along the way as we went. We called the Laburnum Lodge on our way into Derry and they had a cute two twin bed room with an ensuite available for us. It was very easy to find, the Lodge was clean, inviting, and adorable. The room itself was amazing, with plush beds, a great ensuite bath with towel warmer and shower with wonderful water pressure, and a television. The owner, Donal, was so nice to us and even waited for us when we told him about our late arrival. Such a welcoming place that I would HIGHLY recommend!!!!
