My wife and I were in Northern Ireland for our wedding, and our stay at Ballymote House before and the after the wedding were a delight. The country house is full of old world charm, the bedrooms were beautifully appointed (we stayed in the Curtis Room), and our hosts Nicola and James were warm and welcoming, making us feel like...

What a lovely review, many thanks indeed. We really enjoyed playing a bit part of your big day, and Daisy says she enjoyed your company as well as photobombing the pics. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay here so much and looking forward to seeing the photos. All the best in your new life together, Nicola and James

My wife & I stayed at Ballymote House for four nights. Not only was it a wonderful and quite unique experience, we were made to feel part of the family. The breakfasts, pots of tea (coffee if preferred) and biscuits notwithstanding, throughout our stay, Nicola & James added to the overall experience of staying in a fabulous old house in...

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Ballymote house for two nights as we were in town for a wedding and were immediately greeted with warmth and kindness. This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast and must say it did not disappoint! We booked the Curtis room and it was immaculate. Filled with everything we might...

Sorry Tripadvisor, the usual 'marks out of five' score isn't enough here. I was looking for something a bit out of the ordinary for my wife's birthday and Ballymote House seemed to fit the bill. It turns out I made the right decision. I initially spoke to Nicola on the phone and confirmed there was a room available. Getting sorted...

We found Ballymote randomly on the web and almost booked somewhere else . We are so glad we didn't! Ballymote and the family who run it, offered us a very warm welcome, a fantastically comfy stay and delicious breakfasts. Our girls in particular loved the fact that there were horses in the yard, dogs to play with and hosts who...

Thank you for taking the time to review us and I'm glad you had such an enjoyable stay. Food is central to the way we operate, and I love finding small producers for the bits and pieces I do not produce myself.

This was our last stop on a two week vacation and I loved it in every way! This family is classic. So friendly, so welcoming into their home and just so....genuine. We had a wonderful stay at Ballymote House. It's a beautiful house in a lovely setting. Nicola, James and Edward could not have been kinder or more welcoming. The rooms are very pretty and our bed was exceptionally comfortable. Breakfasts are generous and delicious, and served with great coffee by a roaring fire. We'll be back!

My husband and I stayed with our 4 children. All accommodated very comfortably - our bedroom was spacious, had lots of amenities with lovely country views in two directions. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"A Hidden treasure....a real find" Irish Times Not just 'a country house' this is our family home. We are delighted to extend its warmth to all our visitors from Ireland and around the world. Ballymote delights in continuing the best of that renowned country house tradition, informal and apparently effortless hospitality. We understand just how valuable our guests' free time is with today's hectic way of life. That's why, from the moment you arrive, we make sure the outside world feels a world away. Ballymote is as restful, or as relaxingly active, as you want it to be. Your only decision will be how you want to enjoy yourself next! "No where nicer than Ballymote...... Resplendent, elegantly faded charm, blissful beds and great cooking from Nicola are the Ballymote signatures". 100 Best Places to Stay in Ireland Bridgestone Guide. We pride ourselves on our breakfasts; apart from the de rigeur Ulster fry (ours has sausages made by a local butcher to our family recipe and 8 or so other things on the platter) we offer homemade jams, (3 or 4 different types), local honey, fruit from the garden and masses of other delicious things. It will set you up for a day of exploring! One of the many extraordinary things about County Down is the extraordinary amount it offers for visitors to do! But never forget that while at Ballymote, simply doing nothing is as good a way to pass your time as any! We are in the heart of St. Patrick's country; it is an ideal base for exploring one of the most historically and culturally rich parts of Ireland, with wonderful gardens, challenging world renowned links golf courses, spectacular mountains, deserted coastline and unspoilt countryside for walking and horse riding. Come and experience it ... relax, enjoy, above all make yourself at home! Ballymote..... Enthusiastically dedicated to your relaxation. James and Nicola Manningham-Buller ... more   less
