Travelodge Cardiff Atlantic Wharf provides a clean and comfortable stay, highlighted by its spotless rooms and friendly service, as many guests have called out. While the hotel's location is popular for its easy access to Cardiff Bay and the city center, some visitors express concerns about noise from the nearby casino. The rooms are generally seen as basic and in need of updates, with occasional odor and temperature issues. Despite mixed opinions on value, the complimentary parking and the hotel's prime positioning are frequently appreciated amenities.

Offering great value and a perfect location, the Travelodge Atlantic Wharf is great base for any visit to Cardiff.
Plentiful on-site parking and some of the friendliest staff help make relaxing stay.
If not feeling like a brisk walk into the city then the Train station is just a short walk, with trains every 15-20 minutes. A stroll in the other direction leads you to Roald Dahl Plass with the Wales Millennium Centre and restaurants a plenty.
After any busy day a restful night is assured in the comfortable and clean room and bed.
A good value breakfast is available although it good be improved slightly with changes to the fruit juice (seemed a little too watery)
All in all the Hotel offers excellent value for money

Lovely clean hotel with amazing Covid-19 cleaning schedule! Hand sanitiser on entry and exit and we regularly saw staff cleaning down touch points like door handles and railings often! They are really on top of it to ensure a safe stay for you.

The best part of staying here is always the friendly and helpful staff which is why we keep coming back ! Kim is amazing and nothing is too much trouble - we loved seeing her again after her being here when we visited 4 years ago xx

This travelodge is in a fantastic location so close to the bay and the city centre only a 20 minute walk away ! Lots of lovely places with outdoor seating to eat out safely and 5 guys and Zaika are open for click and collect from the Red dragon centre !

We took our 2 children and our dog and we all, yet again, had a fantastic time in Cardiff bay and we will definitely be coming again and will always choose this hotel because of the amazing staff like Kim, it’s great location and it’s fantastic value for money. And Now more importantly than ever the fact that we felt safe during our stay due to the impeccable cleaning and sanitising regime they have running !

After working on a nearby factory roof for two days in the rain and the cold on checking into this hotel I simply requested if I could upgrade my room to one with a bath and was willing to pay. Sarah (the receptionist/manager) was a delight not only did she greet us with a smile and friendly personality she upgraded us to family rooms complete with the bath we all desired at no extra cost!!! She had banter and joined in with the jokes and fun we was having. She is an asset to the travelodge team!

Thank you Sarah.

We stayed here 2 nights to explore the city when our daughter started at the university in September. After a sleepless night due to the traffic noise right outside the window ( we were on the first floor, about this height of a lorry) my wife went down to reception just after 7 in the morning to request a move to a quieter room. The male receptionist told her that they could move us but only after checkout time which is noon. He said he would leave a message for the duty manager to sort it. We went out and rushed back after noon to change room only to be told that they could not move us as they were fully booked?? We told this male receptionist that we already asked his colleague who said it was possible. He insisted that there were no rooms available and our room was actually on the quieter side. When we got to our room, it was not cleaned, tea and coffee was not replenished. We went back to the reception and this same man ( who we later found out was the standing in manager) said that because we didn’t hang our card out by a certain time the cleaners don’t bother to clean. We asked if they could then but was told that the cleaners had gone home??? The checkout time is 12 and the cleaners were gone by 1pm, what sort of hotel is this? My wife was very upset by this man’s attitude towards her and she doesn’t suffers fools gladly; she looked up their website to see if the hotel was fully booked as claimed by this duty manager, there were so many rooms that we could have booked 6 in one go. On our way out we left a message for this manager that there were plenty of rooms available online.
We went out for the day and returned to our room to “ sleep”. We managed about 4 hours. The noise was particularly bad when lorries go over the speed humps right outside the window. On checking out the next morning we informed the receptionist Kim that we did not have a very good stay, Kim was very apologetic and organised a refund. She also told us that the manager wrote in the message book that he knocked on our door afterwards when he found us a room but we were out. This is another fib, if he really wanted to help, he could have telephoned our mobile or push a note under the door.

Thank you taking the time to leave us feedback. We are truly sorry to learn that your stay was affected by external noise. Our more central locations may be noisier however to ensure our guests are comfortable we do try to work with the local areas and communities to ensure a comfortable stay. It is regrettable to hear this was not enough to guarantee a good night stay for you. We hope you will chose to stay with us in the future, where we will endeavour to restore your faith in Travelodge.

Stayed here with my partner and wasn’t expecting much as I have stayed in many Travelodges before. The room was nice a good size but not the cleanliest; towels had a weird smell and shower curtain was basically black. However, overall I enjoyed my stay UNTIL it came to leaving. I had paid more for late checkout (2pm) so around 10 to i was just gathering all my stuff ready to leave after I had just cleaned the room. Opened the door to find an employee standing right outside the door waiting for us to leave. The woman literally stood holding the door open while we were leaving the room trying to usher us out even though it wasn’t even 2pm yet. THEN she had the absolute cheek to accuse us of smoking in the room claiming she could SEE and smell smoke ??? Honestly gobsmacked as neither me or my partner smoke. If she is claiming she can see smoke I’m unsure whether she is referring to the deodorant my partner had just sprayed, possible she may not know what deodorant is ??? Absolutely disgusting the way she treated us trying to intimidate us and make us feel small. Then rang someone infront of us saying we had been smoking in the room. Absolutely disgusted with the way we were treated and would never stay in this hotel again purely down to this ‘lady’. Wish I had asked her name so it would be easier to put in a formal complaint about her but I’ll still manage. Very rude and if it wasn’t for her this would’ve been a very different review but the way she made me feel I’m so angry I feel like crying as a young girl having an older woman shouting at me accusing me of something I would never dream of doing was horrible.

This Travelodge is perfect for a visit to Cardiff, both for the bay which is a 5 minute walk or the city center which is a 20 minute walk or a five minute train journey with the station just over the road. The Red Dragon center with it's IMAX cinema, bowling, restaurant & bars is just next door and the free parking is a massive bonus.
The rooms are standard Travelodge and pretty clean with very large and comfortable beds, nothing luxurious but for the price you pay & the location you are in you really can't ask for more.

Excellent location within 5 minutes walking distance of Wales millennium centre, great range of restaurants in Cardiff bay, walks round the bay and river bus. Short distance from Cardiff Bay station and about 15 - 20 mins walk into town. Friendly efficient staff, clean rooms and bathrooms with decent shower and nice towels. Internet available for small charge and parking included in room fee which is great for Cardiff as parking can be hard to find and expensive. Breakfast is self service buffet on site and food available to order at other times. If you like staying at Travelodge hotels this is an excellent choice. It is not luxurious but has everything you need for a comfortable and pleasant weekend stay. We have stayed several times when we come down to visit our son studying in Cardiff and have future bookings already made for the months ahead having tried lots of different hotels and options (Airbnb etc). When I travel alone as an older woman I always feel safe here and well looked after.

Stayed here for 2 nights at weekend.
Greeted with friendly staff member and other staff dealt with over weekend were great.
Had room 327, great view to millennium centre and other smaller window out onto street.
Whilst the noise of traffic didn’t disturb us, it was the wind blowing at the side of building.
Bathroom was adequate, plentiful hot water although only a fixed on wall shower head -jets need to be redirected.
Room was spacious and my only downside and reason for rating very good and not excellent was we found the mattresses too hard.
Everything else was A* - the location, free parking and such a pleasant and reasonably short walk into Cardiff city centre we were impressed.
Our youngest loved it that much that he didn’t want to leave...
we’ve promised a trip back and maybe we’d bring our own mattress topper unless they can be requested?

We were lucky enough to book one night for the bargain price of £24.99 on Sunday 16th January. The whole experience from checking in to checking out was brilliant. The guy who checked us in was pleasant and helpful, explaining how to register our car for the free car park. Our room was on the first floor and close to the end of a long corridor so very quiet wIth no-one walking past. We are a couple in our seventies, so peace and quiet is important to us. The room was spotlessly clean and had supplies of tea, coffee and milk and toiletries as expected. Parking was free in a nearby car park, we were able to park in a space that was visible from our room window. The shower was excellent. We chose not to have breakfast so we are unable to comment on it. When we checked out, the receptionist called Kim was extremely pleasant and very helpful, offering us de-icer for our car as it was a frosty morning and taking an interest in our stay, including the evening meal we’d had the night before in a nearby restaurant. All in all, this was an experience we would like to repeat.

We stayed in Cardiff while we were helping to fit a new kitchen in our daughters house.

This Travelodge was excellent value for money at only 30 pounds a night. The room was very clean and had new curtains and carpets.

The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Kim and other members of the team kept us supplied with everything we needed. We only had to ask.

The Travelodge is in a good convenient
location and has safe free car parking.
