Our second great stay at The Royal . The hotel is an old establishment , it has character and history. True there aren't lifts but staff were extremely helpful on arrival and departure carrying luggage to and from the room , even insisting on carrying it out to the car in the carpark. Our experience was very positive - friendly...

We used the bar and terrace area after our wedding at Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall. The hotel staff were great and kept up with the demands of around 60 people drinking until late. We didn't have to book the room and it was a beautiful place to have an informal relaxed wedding reception. We didn't stay at the hotel but a...

My husband and I stayed here for three nights. The hotel is very tired and has a musty smell in some areas. We had a superior room which was very badly furnished and I can't remember sleeping in a bed with blankets for many, many years! The car park is dreadful, quite difficult to get in and out of when...

We arrived to find our family room is up four flights of stairs. There is no lift as far as we can tell so we had to lug a pram, all the bags and a toddler upstairs. There was no offer of help from the hotel staff. There is apparently an off street carpark but there is no clear signage....

This is a lovely hotel. We had a river view room and it was very spacious and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast service was fast and the food was very good and hot. It has a seating area outside where you can sit and just watch the river, what more can you ask for.

Superb central location, overlooking the river Dee on terraces with bar and restaurant.having great river views. Flowers in bloom on the terrace add to the attraction and seeing the steam train on the other side of the bridge all make for a marvellous experience look out for the heron and the dippers who are quite comical to watch. For our...

This is a hotel built in the Victorian era and as a result cannot really match up to modern expectations. It is a little shabby, but we found our room comfortable, quiet, a good size, reasonably clean, and with a beautiful view over the river. That sold it for my wife, who is a little picky when it comes to...
