This was a nice restaurant with good decor but the service and food was a bit of a let down. The starters were quite small for the price, and having ordered one main off the menu was told that it was a different cut of meat to that advertised on the menu, which probably should have been mentioned when we...

For this visit to The Foxhunter, I stayed in the cottage (a first time for me). 2 really comfortable nights in this cosy building complete with a gorgeous log-burner. Perfect for a romantic break, the cottage has all you need, and being just a few doors away from the restaurant, it is an ideal place to stagger to after a...

Have avoided reviewing this location until others in our party could reflect on their experiences from mid Dec 2012. The restaurant was not quite half full for the Saturday evening service and whilst we were seated in a timely manner the wait for taking our order was extensive. Drinks eventually arrrived followed by the first courses. My scallops were good,...

Greeted by friendly staff who always seemed more than happy to help, perfect and delicious sunday lunch choices with the best rice pudding my son has apparently ever tasted! Great for kids as well, flexibility from the kitchen gave them "awesome" food.

After choosing the Foxhunter as the venue for my girlfriends 30 something birthday we were both left very impressed and it proved to be just as much a treat for me as a present for my girlfriend. On entering the building we were greeted by a friendly waitress and seated by a log fire while reading the menu and waiting...

We were four for lunch. Drinks took a while to arrive, one at a time! Whatever happened to trays? Service was from a group of youngsters of varying ability but they tried hard. An older woman was behind the bar (we believe she is the chef's wife). Food OK, nothing special and the main course (we all had the Loin...

In regal style I begin by saying my husband and I spent a fabulous morning foraging with Raoul who Lisa Matt Tebutts wife organised for us to be followed by a foraged lunch back at the Foxhunter. The day began by a trip through the kitchen. Delighted to see top class produce seasonal and clearly local waiting to be transformed by...

My boyfriend and I stayed at the foxhunter for our year anniversary and I have to say its been an amazing experience - I can't wait to return! We stayed in the old stable cottage. It was cosy and comfortable, well furnished and very welcoming. I loved the DIY breakfast - there was a fridge stocked with breakfast items on...

We ate at the foxhunter last night and we cannot rate it highly enough. The food was astonishing and the service was spot on. An incredible wine list, a great selection of beers and ciders, and to top it off meeting Matt Tebbutt and his wife and listening to him passionately telling of his love for food and drink rounded...

My husband booked a Sunday Lunch here for my birthday. I've been wanting to dine at The Foxhunter for some time and glad we did. We arrived a little earlier than our reservation, and had a drink in the small bar area and had a look at the menu, before being shown to our table where fresh warm bread was...

“Both the Old Stable and the Cottage are just a few steps away from the restaurant. As a single traveller I prefer the Stable, but anyone with a child would perhaps rather be accommodated in the Cottage.”

“The Stable is perfect for single travellers or a couple - modern & stylish interior. The cottage has 2 bedrooms so would suit a family - cosy & charming (with a small ouside area for the Summer).”

“If you have a wheelchair user in your party, you may want to check before going to the restaurant whether they can provide a table that you can be seated at comfortably. It may also be worth checking how easy it is to access the disabled toilet (fine for mobile people using walking aids but I am not sure you could get a wheelchair in and the toilet is a normal height). If you have high blood pressure you might want to ask them not to add additional salt to your dishes.”
