We had booked into the glamping pod for the first week of March and were not disappointed. The pod itself was well equipped with everything you needed for a week's stay. The check in process was easy and information in the pod explained everything within it and how everything worked. It was warm and toasty during our stay and we were never cold (although there were extra duvets to cover you if you did get cold). Climbing up stairs to bed and trying to climb over my partner when I needed to go to the loo in the night (I'm now of that age!!) was an experience in itself but something different! The shower room was brilliant and spacious and we had food cooked in the oven on a couple of nights.

The pod we stayed in was near the entrance to the holiday park which meant that it was a 10 minute walk through the gate and down a road (be careful at night as the road is busy and there are no footpaths) to the pedestrian swing bridge opposite the castle. Be aware though that the bridge is closed from 11pm to 7am, so if you are planning on walking to town for food and drink, make sure you get to the bridge before then, otherwise you'll have a long walk back to the park (or having to get a taxi!). The walk back up hill takes about 15 minutes as it is on a slight incline but nothing too bad!

Just a couple of suggestions, in that if you are a light sleeper and like the place dark, then perhaps have black out blinds in the bedroom bit upstairs. I found that as there was a light outside on the path (which was underneath the window) it made the room extremely light. Another issue we had was that we had to switch off the boiler and the fridge every night before we went to bed as the fridge hummed and the boiler made a noise (but not as bad as the fridge). Wasn't too much of an issue though as first thing, we switched on the boiler and the fridge and it was all good again!

Overall we had a very pleasant stay and will most definitely be returning this year (already planning when!!).

Hi Lynda, Thank you for taking the time to review your break with us. Firstly, delighted to read that you 'were not disappointed'. As you note our pods are well-equipped, snug, warm and comfortable, and, as you note given the compact layout provide somewhat of an adventure when using the main sleeping area, specifically if climbing over a partner late at night!! To others reading this there are sleeping areas downstairs also if the stairs/ladder up and limited headroom present issue. It seems the park, accommodation and surrounding area have made sufficient a positive impression upon you for you to consider returning to us. Don't forget to claim your loyalty discount, or, if you have booked online already give us a call to claim it. As always, thank you for choosing Coed Helen, we hope to see you again soon. Best wishes, The Coed Helen Team

Have stayed in Two of the lodges now on offer at Coed Helen holiday park, both excellently furnished to a high standard, all amenities present. Very relaxing stay, the park is secluded, very quiet, nestling in a wooded area close to the coast. The park has its own little country path you can take into the town of Caernarvon taking around 15 mins, takes you right to the castle.
The park its self has a outdoor pool and a lovely restaurant should you wish to stay on the park.
Lots of wildlife around the park, squirrels and birds run across the outside balcony, which in the sun makes a great relaxing place for a chilled glass of wine.
Lodge is spotless, amenities great cooker, large fridge, microwave etc, even a dish washer but bring your own liquid tabs, TV is great all channels, there is WIFI but can be hit and miss.
Will be coming back for sure, a little home from home.

Hi Glenn, Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us. The whole review makes us very happy when we read it, the 'home from home' bit at the end all the more so. We know we are a favourite place for yourselves, nonetheless picking up the best bits of your feedback we have; relaxing retreat, excellently furnished, relaxing, secluded, quiet, nestling in a wooded area close to the coast, outdoor pool, lovely restaurant, lots of wildlife, and of course, 'a chilled glass of wine'! We do apologise for the lack of dishwasher tablets, an oversight on our behalf, these are typically provided, sorry. We know you will be coming back, the repeat bookings and reviews, we know why. As always, we look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Kind regards - The Coed Helen Team

Stayed for a few days in October 2020 with my mum and grandma. The place is spotless and so peaceful, with amazing views of Snowdonia (including Snowdon). The caravan had a wraparound balcony with picnic table, so you could easily spend your evenings in awe of the scenery.

The caravan itself was kitted out with everything we needed, and even had 2 toilets! It was extremely modern and well presented; a massive upgrade from my childhood caravanning holidays.

The park manager was brilliant and communicated really well, he even spoke to my grandad who was concerned the holiday would be cancelled.

Would highly recommend going and would love to return in the future.

Hi Jemcs86, Thank you for taking a few minutes of your time to leave a review of your mini-break here at Coed. We are always more than happy to receive multiple compliments in reviews of our hire offering. To begin, for you the park was 'spotless, peaceful, with amazing views', so much so you spent 'your evening in awe of the scenery'. The accommodation 'modern and well-presented'. Feedback of the highest order if we dare say so ourselves. The previous positives aside, more importantly and it seems to your surprise, the accommodation offered multiple bathrooms!! Understanding of his concerns the Park Manager was more than happy to speak with your Grandfather. Great to know that the reassurances offered to him prior to your arrival were appreciated and addressed any pre-holiday worries linked to current public health issues. Please do recommend us to those looking for a short-break or a longer UK stay-cation. We would be delighted to welcome you back to North Wales in better times to come. For now wishing you all well, thank you for choosing to holiday with us. Kind regards - The Coed Helen Team

Lovely quiet park within 10 minutes walk through leafy lane to the castle. Note that the lane is not signposted so ask local park residents to point you in the right direction. Mollys cafe/ bar is good and inexpensive for the area but opening times are limited, possibly because of covid. We really enjoyed our stay here, it exceeded our expectations.

Hi 135frederickr, Thank you for your review and for choosing Coed Helen as your base for your first trip to Wales. 'We really enjoyed our stay here, it exceed our expectation', as an accommodation provider that is the kind of sentence we are always happy to receive. We are fortunate at Coed Helen that we read this or similar remarkably often and, whilst the attraction of North Wales is well known to many, we are delighted that you too are now aware. Your first, but hopefully not last trip to Wales, nor to Coed Helen. We hope to exceed your expectations again soon. Kind regards - The Coed Helen Team

We loved our week stay here. The site is professional, clean, organised and feels safe so we were instantly able to chillax. Its a great location to access places on foot, bike and car. There are loads of local eating places as well as a restaurant on site. It's just a really interesting querky site which creates a happy family holiday. Plus there were not lots of arrivals and departures as most of the caravans are privately owned so it kept things private and quiet. I loved this about the site.

Hi Ali and family, Been a busy summer here so it's taken a while to get to respond! Seems we offered a week which was very much to your liking. In the current times though not words you would commonly use to describe a holiday, terms such as professional, clean, organised and safe validate our efforts and reassure those reading your review. More specific to your holiday experience delighted that you 'loved your week' and had a 'happy family holiday'. It goes without saying that we would be delighted to welcome you once again in the future. Remember as a repeat guest you qualify for a loyalty discount on any repeat bookings. Thank you for your kind words. Kind regards - The Coed Helen Team.

We stayed here in November, and despite the terrible weather we still managed to enjoy ourselves. We stayed in the caravan.

The caravan itself was cosy with the electric fire giving a nice relaxing feel. I do think it could have been slightly cleaner throughout and we felt it did need a bit more of a deep clean.

The site itself was quiet, unknown whether that is because of COVID or just time of year... Molly's restaurant is a short walk away from whatever plot you stay on. We went there for a couple of drinks on two occasions and the atmosphere and service was spot on. Would recommend a visit if on site(or not).

Caernarfon centre is a stone's throw away which was perfect to head out for a walk.

There is plenty to do within the surrounding area of this site which would be 15-20 minutes car journey. Llanberis, Angesley, Caernarfon, Bangor all within a short distance with plenty to offer. With the current situation of COVID, we couldn't experience things the same as we normally would but we still managed to relax and enjoy our stay.

The information provided for checking in/checking out and detailed information for exactly what to do/expect on site was very clear and transparent, which is exactly what is needed.

We would definitely look to revisit in the future, hopefully I'm the summer. 👍

Hi RobertsM29, Thank you for taking the time to reflect and report on your break with us. Delighted that despite the 'challenging' conditions outdoors you were still able to explore, relax and enjoy a 'nice break away'. The weather certainly wasn't the best, we can see why the warmth and glow of the fire in the caravan and also the few drinks taken in Molly's were so greatly appreciated!! With Caernarfon being only "a stone's throw away" and North Wales offering plenty to see and do it very much seems you were by and large happy with Coed Helen and the wider area. It is a pity that for all the positives you were not entirely satisfied with the condition of the accommodation, not what we like to hear, nor in truth are used to hearing. Our feedback received in this area has generally been exceptional both prior to and during the current public health crisis. Disappointing to learn on reading that we did not get things right in this instance. As to the problem(s) experienced; regrettably your concerns were not reported to us on arrival or during your stay so we are none the wiser. Given we remain in the dark on the issue(s) I would welcome hearing personally from you so we may look to address any short-comings apparent in that particular unit and evaluate our methods as a whole. Please do get in touch. In the circumstances despite your concerns we take heart in the four-star review gained. As a note, we like to think the thumbs up to finish makes it about a four and a half! We certainly hope this is the case. Ultimately, with all the above said and done, you 'would definitely look to revisit', we would be more than happy for you to do so. Kind regards - Ben, Park Manager

Had a brilliant time staying at Coed Helen. We stayed in a Glamping Pod which we absolutely loved. The style was very different and quirky with lovely views of Snowdonia. The location is ideal with a Tesco’s & petrol station nearby and only 20 minutes away from Llamberis to walk up Snowdon! We stayed April-May 2021 so Covid-19 restrictions are still present, however we had a no contact check in/ check out making things very safe and easy. We completely forgot about the pandemic because we felt so safe. :) The communication we received before staying was clear and very detailed putting us at ease before we got there. Molly’s restaurant was good also, we had burgers served outside in the sun and were very impressed. Would happily recommend Coed Helen to anyone. I would love to come back.

Hi Rhianna, Thank you for taking the time to offer up a review on your time spent with us at Coed Helen. To know this is 'one of the best trips' you have taken is a very satisfying indeed, all the team (cleaners, grounds, restaurant, office) delight in such praise. Our pods are very special little spaces, more micro-lodge than classic glamping we think, none-the-less, as you note they are different (in a good way), no-doubt quirky, and certainly offer outstanding views out to the foothills of the National Park. All things considered, rather unique. Your praise goes well beyond the accommodation too, particularly highlighting communication, check-in/out procedures and safety. Whilst we are sure you didn't 'completely forget about the pandemic' it is good to know we offered both procedure and environment that made your stay safe and secure and provided a little escapism in the current times faced, exactly what we aim to do. Please do recommend us, please do choose to visit once again. Thanks again for the 5-stars and the very positive feedback. Kind regards - The Coed Helen Team

My girlfriend and I stayed for a week in The Folly Lodge in October. The communication from the park ahead of our arrival was excellent, we were informed of all local restrictions in place and what we could expect when we arrived, which was a contactless check in. The clear instructions and site map made it easy for us to find our way to our lodge and check in.

The lodge itself was very modern and well equipped with everything that we needed and more. The lodge was clean and very comfortable and was a great place to rest after days of hiking. the park was nice and quiet and very spacious. we are so glad that we found this little gem.

Coed Helen is a short walk into the beautiful town of Caernarfon, no more than 10 minutes from our lodge door to the castle walls. There are wonderful views from the park of Caernarfon itself and the Menai Strait. on site is Mollys bar & restaurant who were open throughout our stay and have a great menu with a variety of options for lunch and dinner, and the food was actually superb, locally sourced and freshly prepared.

A Tesco and Morissons are both within a 10 minute drive to pick up any amenities, with a few smaller shops in Caernarfon if you want to avoid driving.

we used Coed Helen as a base for our trip to Snowdon & Anglesey. The Llanberis path (& Snowdon railway) is approximately 30 minutes from the park, and the views as you would expect are incredible on the way there. Anglesey is a similar travel time and has some beautiful beaches and national parks.

we highly recommend Coed Helen and will certainly be visiting again for our next trip to Snowdonia. We really wanted something to break up the feeling of being trapped indoors due to the lockdown, and Coed Helen really offered a safe way to enjoy the great outdoors.

Hi Drew, Thanks for taking a little of your time to provide a review of your stay. As you note the location of the park is outstanding, 'nestled between town, mountain and sea' we like to say. Seems that the setting and local area where exactly to your liking; where varying grades of walking/hiking, tourist attractions and Caernarfon itself all in easy reach either on-foot or by car. Currently, when sensible, safe and socially distanced is the order of the day our contactless check-in/out has worked very well for all involved. We have received plenty of positive feedback in this area, reassuring to know that you felt similarly. Delighted to read that your lodge was 'modern and well equipped, clean and very comfortable' and that the grounds of Coed Helen were 'nice, quiet and spacious'. All very positive, thank you. All-in-all, it seems that a break with us provided you with some much needed, much appreciated time away. We hope to see you again soon when you next visit North Wales. Kind regards - The Coed Helen Team

We originally booked for May 2020 and this was obviously cancelled, the site were really professional and quick to refund us fully on this occasion so we were looking forward to rebooking again this year.

We stayed in a lodge (Folly lodge). The lodge was great, really spacious and well set out with everything you need. Only downside was the bed in the master bedroom- so so uncomfortable, mattress really needs upgrading!

We loved the site, well kept, quiet and absolutely stunning views. The facilities (pool, park, etc) are lovely. Walking distance to Caernafon and within easy reach to lots of great places to take the kids. We ate at the on-site bar / restaurant (Molly’s) twice and stopped for a drink several times and it was really nice, great food and service.

Only negative comment about the site is the irresponsible dog owners who leave their dog mess all over the place. After cleaning the wheels of our baby’s pram 10+ times this did get pretty tedious. However, we’ll definitely return as it’s a perfect base to explore the lovely local area.

See you soon Coed Helen!!

Hi Rachel, Thank you for taking a moment to provide feedback on your time with us. It seems that overall you very much enjoyed your holiday with us (despite the setback of having to cancel your planned visit the first time round). To quote; 'the lodge was great, really spacious and well set out with everything you need..... loved the site, well-kept, quiet and absolutely stunning views..... the facilities (pool, park etc.) are lovely'. Our Park Manager recalls speaking with you regarding purchasing your own holiday home with us so we must have made a positive impression. We are always vigilant with dog fouling and in our experience all those who use the park are responsible dog owners. Reading of your issues does make us wonder if you had actually left the park, and, were perhaps on one of the public footpaths immediately outside the park rather than park property itself? These concerns aside, you'll be pleased to know that we are planning to upgrade/improve some of the fixtures and fittings in our hire lodges ready for the 2022 season, master bedroom mattresses are on the to-do list. Thank you for choosing Coed Helen, we hope to see you again soon, hopefully gaining that missing fifth-star! Kind regaerds, The Coed Helen Team
