Accommodating staff with a lovely atmosphere. Food is reliably fantastic, best Sunday roasts in Salisbury. Great for food, drinks, celebrations and to just relax, we have continued to go with our young babies and they relax in the ambiance.

Warm welcome, lovely friendly staff, charming room with the right degree of quirk up quirky ancient steps and a ready volunteer to carry luggage. Warm and cosy. A cumulous of duvet on a wide bed and chunky large towels with all the extras in the bathroom. Nespresso machine and sound system in the room. Breakfast an absolute wonder of the... More

We arrived in the morning and were able to leave our bags prior to check-in time. We were told to come back in a few hours (still before check-in time) and the room would be ready; sure enough it was. The building is old and quirky, but that's what we liked about it. The room was on the small side... More

Stayed 2 nights but ended up in 3 different bedrooms! We had problems with the first room we were given, it was much too cramped for a two night stay and when our concerns were mentioned to the manager she moved us to another room the same day. This room was much bigger ..but we didn't sleep at all because... More

Me and my partner stayed here 1 night for our anniversary and we never wanted to leave. We booked an executive double, which I would recommend and ended up in room 9 that was stunning. After mentioning on the phone that it was a special occasion, we get there to rose petals over the bed and the floor and our... More

We stayed one night and had a lovely room which apparently Charles I and Charles II stayed in. The Inn is in a very good position for exploring Salisbury especially the beautiful cathedral. The gate to the cathedral is basically opposite. The Inn has a lovely bar and a very nice restaurant both of which have been sympathetically renovated. Good... More

A quick trip with husband and son to Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral. Picked The Chapter House because of previous reviews and we like "quirky" and the age of the establishment. Very friendly staff and definitely "quirky" stairs. We were given Room 5 (First floor) and managed to get up the stairs without tripping. Luckily they helped us with our luggage.... More

We saw the signs for the 2 courses for £10.00 from the street, parked the car and walked back, service was amazing, atmosphere was lovely and food was amazing. For an additional £2 we had steak, which was cooked to perfection.

Quirky beautiful full of character hotel. Staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for you. Our superior room had dark wood panelling, a stone fireplace and the most comfortable king size bed. The only down side was there are no phones in the rooms, the second morning there was no water in the show, this was due to renovations of... More

We went here as a spontaneous date night on a Saturday. After being made feel like idiots for not booking at 2 other restaurants we were pleasantly surprised when the waitress led us straight to a table with a smile. The warm cosy place was a nice shelter from the freezing cold outside. We then ordered starters and mains which... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated in the heart of historic Salisbury, The Chapter House comprises a cosy steakhouse restaurant, friendly pub and 17 comfortable letting rooms. It lies within easy reach of some of Southern England's most important landmarks. The stone for the Salisbury Cathedral, a mere five minute walk away, was cut in what is now the restaurant, making the hotel's initial construction almost 800 years old. Some of the original stone and ironwork is still left exposed inside the property. The 17 boutique en-suite rooms are all unique and quirky, some with original panelling and fireplaces and all with fluffy goose down duvets, Egyptian cotton linen, luxurious H2K toiletries and flatscreen TVs. The Chapter House boasts a bustling restaurant and grillhouse where flame grilled steaks, a la carte dining and hearty pub food are served in an ambient environment. The perfect base when visiting Wiltshire's historic sites, The Chapter House is also an ideal stop over en route to the coast or as a home-from-home option when on a business trip. ... more   less
