Walking up to accommodation not best impression. Untidy outside not kept well. Entrance to use on evening was round back of property again wouldn’t want to be going back there alone on an evening. Guy on reception was friendly enough. My first view was blankets thrown on a sofa at reception then a smell of dog which I could smell throughout the building. Room - bars on window, stained carpets, shared toilet and shower ( toilet smelly ) Breakfast was loaf of bread and cereals, help yourself (I didn’t) . Bed looked clean, only plus point. We did consider leaving but had left it too late. We slept and left! Would not recommend. Cheap, yes, worth staying no.

Very cheap, lovely staff but attracts very loud selfish idiots playing booming music shouting screaming etc etc. if people were more considerate this place would be fine but sadly your expierience will completely depend on who is also staying there at the time.

I booked this as I was going to a gig at the Brudenell Social Club and it was the cheapest option in the city centre. As a solo female traveller, I've stayed in a lot of hostels in the UK and Europe and this was the only one that I haven't felt particularly safe in.
First of all, I wasn't impressed with the lady who checked me in. She was rude and spent most of her time ignoring me and texting someone instead.
Secondly, there wasn't anywhere to lock up bags. This is the first hostel I've stayed in where there hasn't been any lockers (they're usually under the bed). I was really worried about leaving my stuff, so I ended up taking most of my things to the gig with me which wasn't convenient.
My third complaint is that our door didn't seem to lock. I was staying in a female only room which was on the ground floor and was the first room on your left as you walk through the front door. I was given a code for the door but it didn't seem to lock properly and I was on edge most of the night.
Finally, I was disappointed to see that there was only one female toilet and shower (I think there was probably only one male toilet and shower too) and these were located up on the first floor. I didn't like having to go all the way upstairs to wash and use the toilet, especially in the night when I was dressed in my pyjamas. It kind of defeated the purpose of staying in a female only room.

I stayed on a Saturday night in a solo room on the ground floor. It was easy to check in and I was shown around the building. The room was clean and the double bed was very comfortable. It's not a posh place , but you already know this . But it did a good job of giving me what I needed . A clean bed for the night. The toilet seat was broken and probably will be for a while to come. But the manager was very nice and helpful. I didn't know that there is on site parking for a small fee , so I parked in west street council carpark 5 minutes away. The hostel is only 20 minutes walk from the main shopping area of Leeds and a two minutes from a pub which I was given a 10% discount voucher to use on food and drinks. There's a Starbucks round the corner also. Even though there's free tea and coffee in the hostel. Over very nice experience. And I would go back as a solo traveller.

We booked for 3 nights and we only stayed one night as the room conditions is not for humans.
Carpet in the room was disgusting, all pillows was dirty.
Rooms door is not fit for a purpose. I can hear outside how they eating cereals. Bedroom doors are not fire doors, no smoke detections in the rooms. Windows are fitted with metal bars like a prison. No hope for an escape in event of fire. Bathroom is covered with mud.
Terrible!

Upon arrival the manager was very rude, making inappropriate comments and made us feel very uncomfortable. He lacked courtesy and kept asking if we’d had a discount which was odd. He cut across us and we felt like school children. The manager lives in the building and stated he ‘sees everything’ and that we were lucky our room was right next to his desk - a very uncomfortable notion. The rooms were tiny and smelt damp. We decided not to stay at the property after we had a chat and all felt very uneasy. One of the group posted a review and the manager lied and said we were unhappy because we had only booked 3 beds - we had booked 4 and have the proof. The manager happily stated he had the code to the door and could enter at any time - another red flag. Also, the bathrooms are up on the first floor next to the male rooms which really can make a lady feel uncomfortable to go there in the middle of the night. Avoid!!

The owner/manger is filthy mean alcoholic person. Something which is said about him in many reviews. I came a bit late tonight so asked if their is possibility to stay for one night. He first said yes but it will cost 60 pond double the price on the internet. And then he me there is a nice and big room available so let double check and he went inside and i was waiting outside and then when he came he told me to leave now and that he shouldn't have opened the door in the first. Ofcourse because he was drunk he didn't know what he was saying and just left and now that have seen al this reviews i am happy that he asked me to leave.

Weekend away with my dad for the rugby at Headingly. Hostel is a great location barely a 5 minute walk into Leeds City Centre.
great pub called the Editors Draught close by also with a few great Craft Beers and traditional ales.
Room was small and clean. For the price 0 complains. Hostel was quieter than I expected which was a bonus. Both Staff members where very friendly and hellpfull also.

Terrible experience. Unfriendly staff, room barely good enough for sleeping. Lights in the room were flickering. Sheets and floor were dirty. Toilets did not flush, didn’t even consider showering here. You could hear every little sound outside the room. Only used the room for sleeping and left immediately after waking up. Did not feel safe here.

Well what can I say that has not already been said.
This place is the pits and should be avoided at all costs after 18 years in the army I thought I had stayed in some of the worst environments possible..... how wrong I was.
To be fair if id been handed a shovel and poncho on my arrival I would of been more impressed than what awaited us.
This place needs a visit from someone in the environmental health sector. If fact if there is ever a zombie apocalypse this would be ground zero. Guys in hazmat suits should be crawling all over this place and categorising some of the the stuff growing in here. It is with out a shadow of a doubt the worst place you will ever stay in. And on arriving home I would suggest burning any clothing and a karcher pressure washer and a lot of cleaning produce and maybe a visit to your GP as soon as possible.
