Visited for afternoon tea with friends and enjoyed the whole experience. The room you are seated in has high ceilings and the décor is in keeping with the period of the building. It was quite busy on the occasion we were there but the service was still attentive and thorough. Plenty of tea refills when we asked and the food...

Dear Ema S Thank you for your TripAdvisor review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your Afternoon Tea. I promise to look into the music selection (not sure Mark Morrison will be happy but you probably have a point - not really afternoon tea playlist material). Kindest regards, Tony

Although the rooms in this hotel are lovely, the room service and breakfast were terrible. My room service took over an hour and when it arrived it wasn't even complete. By the time my full order was served it was over an hour and a half I'd been waiting. The salad was swimming in oil and dressing and was very...

Dear Rambler I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed your bedroom and found it comfortable, but of course I'm very sorry that you could not say the same about your breakfast and room service experience. Please accept my sincere apologies for letting you down. I'm pleased that my reception team addressed this on departure but I'm sure there is something we...

I stayed here on business for one night in February 2016. I booked two rooms - one for myself and a colleague. On arrival we were told that we had been upgraded to larger rooms, which was great. The rooms were good, and overall I enjoyed the ambience and style of the hotel throughout the stay. There aren't any plugs...

Dear bp83 Thank you for your review. I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay overall but understand why you will have been left frustrated. The WIFI is a bit slow at the moment but while we are sorting out the fibre optic broadband speeds we do have some dongles available for free hire at reception. I will investigate the...

We chose Hotel du Vin for a valentines treat. It was good value for the spa treatment offer and very nice large room with massive bathroom. Comfy bed. Massage was great and we had a lovely afternoon relaxing in the room. Fab staircase and nice decor but the wall near lift needs painting as "stone effect" paint work all scraped...

Dear Alison Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for sharing a review. It's great to hear you enjoyed your Valentines meal, spa treatment and bedroom but of course disappointing that your table was delayed somewhat. I'm surprised to hear that there was no wine list in our Pub and must apologise for this as we have a...

One night stay on a sunday when watching Davis Cup, on a wonderful value £25 room cost if spent £75 in restaurant. We arrived late for our match due to traffic and the hotel reception ladies were wonderful, smiling, efficient and the valet parking was a godsend with our bags taken care of until the room was available. We came...

Dear Ian Thank you for choosing to stay at Hotel du Vin. I'm sorry that your experience was so mixed but I hope to clear up confusion on some matters and hopefully encourage you to return. Our discretionary service charge in the Bistro is currently 12.5% but we plan to reduce that figure to 10% on the next menu print...

I booked in for one night on their valentines offer of £330 with dinner. When i arrived at 6pm i was told the restaurant was full and i hadn't booked a table? We love this place and visit it often. It is the old Birmingham Eye Hospital and has been converted into a high grade hotel. On this stay we were upgraded to a studio room. It is a good setting with attentive staff and pleasant atmosphere, but there are far too many service gaps, particularly for the prices charged.
