I travel 6-10 times a year to Birmingham as part of an Apprenticeship at Aston University. I have stayed in various budget style hotels in the last two years, and saw this Premier Inn before it was even opened, but this was the first time I decided to book it. It is now the closest of the budget hotels to campus, and has all of the city centre amenities in walking distance. The room was typical of a Premier Inn room in furnishings, size and layout, but I was impressed with the cleanliness and presentation of the room. I noticed only a couple of minor issues but they either were not worth bothering reception with during our visit, or impacted us only to a negligible degree. These were: dead batteries in the remote, the towel hook missing from the back of the bathroom door, and the desk unit seemed to be very wobbly if pushed from either end (other than this it was stable and fit for purpose, but if someone were to fall into it from the ends, i'm not sure it would break the fall). The air conditioning was easy to use, and welcome as I prefer a cooler room. The requirement of scanning your card for the lift and only being able to choose your own floor is a nice security addition, and the bathroom was spotless with the wall-mounted toilletries full. Tea and coffee supplies are topped up on a 'help yourself' basis from reception, and if I took a new teabag and milk each time I passed through, I was never without. The hotel is ideally located for quick eating options, in addition to the onsite restaurant/bar there are other establishments on the ground floor of the neighboring building including Starbucks, Greggs, Co-Op and a McDonalds. For our specific purposes, the hotel is equidistant between campus and the city centre so it was easy to get to classes, but also easy to meet up and eat out with colleagues who were staying elsewhere in the evening. We used the parking at Millennium Point car park, as we have done since the course started. It is a 5-10 minute walk away, depending on how laden you are with luggage, and is safe and secure. We leave our cars there when we arrive and they are always safe and secure when we return to them 2 or 3 days later. Also this trip, my parking cost £29 for about 56 hours use. Beware the barriers close between midnight and 0600 but if you're not going to need to move your car overnight, I'd definitely recommend this car park. The NCP High Street is closer to the hotel, which has 24/7 access but will cost more.

We stayed at this particular Premier Inn on 26th December - 28th December 2024. When we arrived it was very foggy and we struggled to see where to go at first but then saw the Purple lights up the side of the building and found the entrance. Once inside, we were greeted by very welcoming staff, and quickly given our room (411). This is a family room on the fourth floor. Sometimes they can be a little cramped but this one was spacious with a childs bed next to ours near the window, and space or a second childs bed in the corner away from our beds (which would have been great for my two children as they often squabble but the older one stayed with friends instead of coming with us so this wasn't an issue). All very clean and as expected. Beds very comfy. We had breakfast on the first morning and it was excellent as always. The only problem we had was the hairdryer wasn't working but this wasn't a major issue for us.
The area outside the hotel is busy but that is because several buses stop outside and there are always people waiting for them.
The hotel is very convenient - it is a short 7 minute walk to the Bullring and main shopping centres, 9 minute walk to New Street Station. We attended an event at the NEC and this hotel is great - 9 mins walk to the station, regular trains to the NEC a journey of approx 9 -10 mins, and the ticket was £12.70 for 2 adults and one 11 year old return - much easier than driving. The hotel is also near Aston University and Birmingham City University. There is also a Tesco Express and a Sainsburys local just outside on the next corner.
We parked in the NCP Birmingham High Street which is just round the corner. The car park at first felt a little sketchy but it isn't - it has security shutters going in and out, coded ticket entry, cameras and staff to help - shout out to Rafiq who was super helpful.
All in all, a centrally located very good value hotel. We will stay again next time we are in Birmingham :)

This Premier Inn is in a very central location, just a ten minute walk from New Street Station, and very close to the Bullring shopping area. It's very close to a tramline too, so it was a perfect location for us to get trains to the NEC and Bournville, and trams to and from the Legoland Discovery Centre and Sea Life Centre.
Premier Inn-wise it's fairly standard; if you know what to expect it's the usual sort of room and breakfast options. The staff at the desk were all very friendly and helpful, the breakfast had all the options, and the room was clean and tidy. When we next visit Birmingham we'd definitely consider staying at this Premier Inn again.

I visited Birmingham for a night and chose this Premier Inn as it was only £35. Bargain! However, this experience did leave me disappointed as 1 particular amenity wasn’t available. This was the WiFi - free and ‘ultimate’ options. The staff did warn me there were issues on arrival, but when in the room attempting to connect to the internet, it simply wasn’t possible at all. I informed the reception who provided me with a free code for the Ultimate WiFi, but again the message on my phone read ‘unable to connect to the internet’. The staff later informed me this was due to issues with their provider, however I do believe it’s an important amenity for any modern hotel nowadays that simply cannot be overlooked. It was also a feature included in the package when booking, which was of particular importance to me for work purposes and it wasn’t possible to get a strong 5G or 4G connection within the giant hotel. Nevertheless, other aspects of the hotel were good. The staff were very friendly and always available. The room was clean with a good shower, tea and coffee as promised, and the view was spectacular. However, I would describe the TV package as basic and the desk too small for comfortable working. I also appreciated how only the key offered access to the hotel lobby and to your own room floor via the lift as a reassuring security measure. This was important to me as later in the night the area where the hotel was situated left you feeling slightly uneasy. Aside from this, the locality was a good, walkable distance from most attractions and had public transport outside the lobby. Overall, I probably would’ve ranked this hotel above average for its modern facilities, service and locality, but internet access is essential these days, especially when 4G/5G aren’t available inside the building. For this reason the experience was below average as internet access is what guests would expect.

This Premier Inn offered a fantastic location for exploring Birmingham city centre. Checking in was a breeze, and the room itself was modern, well-decorated, and comfortable. The air-conditioning was a welcome addition, especially on a warm day.
There were a couple of minor downsides. The WiFi was very slow and unreliable, and unfortunately, the 4G network signal was weak on the 12th floor. Additionally, there was a surprising amount of dust around the fridge area in the room.
However, the positives definitely outweighed the negatives. The location was unbeatable, with bus stops right outside the hotel and just a short walk from the city center. There were also Tesco, Sainsbury's, and Co-op convenience stores within easy reach, perfect for grabbing snacks or drinks.
The slow lift on the day of our checkout was a bit of a pain, taking around 15 minutes to arrive. However, overall, we had a great stay at this Premier Inn and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, or stay here again if we're back in Birmingham.

It might be the newest PI I’ve ever stayed in but not a good experience really. So many corners cut. Overworked, harrassed staff; no way of contacting them without going down to reception (no one was picking up on the national rate number given on the website, and there was no phone in the room).
No iron in the room (I should’ve paid for a posh room if I’d wanted one apparently) and no suggestion of where to get one. Receptionist said they’d bring one up. They didn’t and when I asked again was told I was on a waiting list. Thanks are due to whoever left one outside in the morning, saving me from going to an important meeting with a creased shirt. But really, it’s a city centre hotel - why aren’t there enough irons!
Went to the bar at 10 to be told it was already closed. Bar staff didn’t know why either. Bit rubbish.
I had to pay £5 for wifi because the free wifi was so weak. Couldn’t access it on my phone at first and it also wouldn’t let me access my work website on my laptop (I work for a university). I messaged on Twitter but didn’t get a response. Eventually found the virgin wifi number. Guy was helpful but apparently I needed a password I must’ve set on a previous stay. Has anyone ever remembered the Premier Inn paid wifi password they had to set to access something that they expected to be free in the first place? And after the call I still couldn’t access my work website despite it looking like I could when I spoke to him. Couldn’t be bothered to call back - had wasted 40 minutes already and in fact the paid wifi wasn’t much better than the free so I gave up trying to achieve anything.
Room was just ok. New and reasonably clean but some mould already round the shower tray. Only one tiny bedside shelf (happened to be on the wrong side for me), shampoo screwed to the wall, those rubbish hotel clothes hangers. All a bit mean and basic. That’s underlined by the cleaning policy too. Didn’t affect me this time but did on a previous stay in Glasgow; if you missed the window to ask for a room clean it was hard to find anyone to even get you a dry towel.
For work trips it looks like you’re being frugal booking a PI but I don’t even think it’s that competitive anymore. I doubt I will book again tbh, mainly because of the wifi situation. All just a bit meh. We deserve better. And that includes the poor staff.

We reserved the hotel in January for May and it was £75 a night, upon arrival the staff were friendly and informative. The hotel was veer secure as you had to use your hotel room key to move in the lift and when entering the hotel at night. The room was clean and spacious, definitely recommend premier plus for the extra services. Mattress was very comfy and had a nice restaurant on site, with 2 for 1 cocktails 4-8pm and not far from local amenities with shops near to get supplies

Me and My girlfriend came down to the Premier Inn hotel to see the Arnold Sports Festival at the NEC, we were initially greeted by a kind lady called Kelly who recommended the restaurant within the building so we went into the restaurant called the Bar and Block and ordered an array of dishes including the best Tiramisu I've personally ever eaten. I was hosted by a polite new member of staff called Josh who was always ready to answer questions and served excellently and I also made a point of requesting the names of the kitchen staff who prepared the food as it was made in reasonable time and tasted fantastic! The staff within the kitchen were called Aaron, Tyler and Grace and the food and effort they put in despite me unintentionally ordering close to closing time lead me to tip each one individually and express deep gratitude for hosting us. I would recommend coming to this hotel and this restaurant in the future, a no nonsense manager called Amy was also professional and quick to let customers know that the restaurant was starting to close so people could finish their drinks and get their belongings in order before leaving.

We visited Legoland and sea life, from there we made our way to the hotel it took over 1hour and 50 minutes to get there due to direction given so not take you were you need to be I can only imagine due to road works and new buildings, gained 2 fines for circling and the parking you couldn’t even reach so we parked 20 minutes away in a place you wouldn’t wish to leave your car. The restaurant is over priced and not great and the breakfast was a chaotic mess, no cutlery, plates, cups or glasses available with our asking and you had to reuse at times, juices not filled unless asked and they had no understanding of Gluten free for my husband. The customer service was great though and the rooms as expected with any premier Inn, we’ve never had a bad experience until we chose this one and we’ve stayed in them all in Birmingham. Was a shame with it being the first time with the kids, if we didn’t have Cadbury world book the following day I would have drove home.

We stayed here for the weekend in a Premier Plus Room and were really impressed by every element of the hotel from the moment we arrived.
The staff were brilliant and could not have done more to make our stay any better. The hotel had lots of extra little touches including free sweets for finding the missing duck (sounds strange out of context) that added to the stay in a way you wouldn’t normally expect from Premier Inn.
The Premier Plus room was fantastic. Spacious, clean and with lots of extra touches that really added to the usual Premier Inn experience (very comfy bed etc). The mini-fridge is a fantastic idea in addition to the good quality hair dryer, heated bathroom mirror and many other elements.
The Bar and Block next door was fantastic both for cocktails and food. A really high standard that again gave the hotel another dimension.
Having stayed in other hotel chains that you’d generally associate as being the next step up from Premier Inn (Apex and Crowne Plaza) recently and had two very average experiences, this was an incredibly impressive hotel and beat them in all aspects.
In terms of value for money I would say that this is the best hotel I have stayed in, delivering a quality hotel experience whilst retaining the Premier Inn price.

The NCP Birmingham High Street car park is probably the nearest, and a quick Google shows it's around £17 per 24 hour. It looks like Premier Inn recommend the Millennium
Point car park which is slightly further away but only £10.30 per 24 hour. Unfortunately, we didn't park in the centre so I can't recommend either, but the hotel is very good for local transport if that is a possible alternative.
There are more places to choose from in the Birmingham area.
