A lovely comfortable hotel perfectly situated for the station ad the shopping areas, we only stayed for one night but we would use this hotel again for any further stays for whatever reason we are in central Birmingham.

Was told on check in that we had been upgraded but judging by the room we were given, it was unsure how this was possible. Very worn out and dated. Needs tlc. Generally the hotel was nice but room let it down. Breakfast and service was good. Would not justify the cost of staying again.

Arrived at the hotel about 10 pm.... went to my room which was very cold as the aircon had been left on. I was then woken from sleep in the early hours by people banging up and down the corridor and shouting. This then made me aware of all the noise outside, people yelling and whooping all night. Bin lorries...

The location was good and was the main reason why I chose staying there. However, other services including the room are terrible. The curtains couldn't be closed properly so it affected the sleep quality. Both the room and the bed are small and could be moved even by a tiny disturb.

It's worth opening with the fact that I am a well travelled individual who regularly stays in hotels of all varieties and prices. Macdonald I have used before and the Manchester on In particular was the benchmark I anticipated when booking Birmingham. Reception is bright enough and gives the false impression that the hotel will be of a decent standard....

A very good hotel opposite Grand Central Station, which is welcoming, clean and presentable. We would definitely choose to stay in this hotel again, in the city centre of Birimingham . Access to retail, is good, transport via the train is on the door stop, together with reasonably priced taxis .

Tired décor, badly maintained, shoddy breakfast service, I had to ask them to serve us. Room service had to be reminded, staff generally unhelpful and when challenged debated the point with me. A terrible experience.

This hotel is ideally situated next to the train station. Stayed in room 336 which was fine. Not sure I would select a suite again as it didn't have that luxurious feel about it. Very comfy bed, but unfortunately I only slept for about 4 hours due to outside roadworks. I understand that the hotel cannot foresee roadwork noise but...

Tiny room (barely space around an ungenerous single bed), creaking floorboards, peeling wallpaper, awful view of a fire escape, rubbish shower - you had to be a contortionist to climb past the toilet into the bath because the bath screen was stuck.
