My Husband and I stayed at the Britannia Hotel in New Street Birmingham. Our room was on the 8th floor, which was allocated for smokers, we are not smokers, the room smelt awful, we did ask for a room change but were told the hotel was full. The TV in the room turned off when the light was switched off,...

We have stayed in this hotel 3 times now and also stayed in other Brittania hotels in Blackpool and Llandudno and the quality or lack of it is the same at all three. My wife and I use the hotels because they are cheap we paid £33 this time for a night away in a city and enjoyed all that...

Not wishing to have my judgement marred by some of the rather negative reviews I decided to book a night here as at short notice, it was the cheapest option and I wanted to be close to the station. Unfortunately I ended up wishing I hadn't pretty much from the minute I found the front door, a carousel with filthy...

OK, it isn't the Ritz but it is undeserving of some of the reviews its had on here. It is extremely central and its very cheap. Staff are friendly and helpful. It's tatty and has clearly seen better days but its reasonably comfortable and fine for a couple of nights. Only problem is the lack of power points - only...

Please do not stay at this hotel! I have stayed in many places in many countries and this is the worst place and I ended up booking into the Premier Inn, after 10 minutes of being in the room. The room was a pokey single bedroom which stank of old smoke ( even though I requested a non smoking room)....

Terrible hotel. Actually the worst one I ever stayed in! Dirty and very tired. I would never stay here again even if I was paid to! Staff were quite helpful and I was upgraded to an executive suite as carpet in original room hadn't been hoovered. The executive room had a very dirty chair and the tv was actually screwed...

We wanted to spend a night in Birmingham for shopping, evening meal and a night out in a different city. We did book late, so choices were limited , but the the Britannia seemed to be central and, although not cheap, seemed reasonable value. Don't be fooled. On arrival the rather surly receptionist couldn't get her head round that as...

I got a good price on this hotel and so was not too upset by the short comings. Noisy air con outside and some guests had little respect for others !! Looks like it has not been maintained over the years , kinda effects how you view things from the moment you walk in , just old and cheap looking It was good value for money being basically next to the shopping mall/strip Can be noisey in the room at night if people are walking by from the bars nearby

If you are looking for a hostel to stay in, this is the place. The customer service is appalling with front desk staff. The rooms are disgusting and only have 1 British plug socket.
