The Travelodge Birmingham Central Newhall Street is frequently celebrated for its prime location that keeps guests close to city attractions while providing a quiet haven. Guests have called out the hotel's amenities and rooms for being notably clean and comfortable. Stayed for one night will visiting local attractions with my family.

As always with travelodge it was amazing value... right in the centre of Birmingham a 20 min walk along the canal to the Lego discovery centre and sea life centre. A 15 minute walk into the shopping district and Bull Ring.

NCP car park nearby and You can get your car park ticket valid so 24hrs cost just ÂŁ7.50

The rooms were clean and smelt fresh. Breakfast was fine - not fancy but there was all the usual options and it was plentiful and hot.

We often stop at Travelodge’s and I would certainly stop here again.

Really well presented and comfortable, given the price and lower star rating. Services in the lodge were again more than you would expect of a traveldoge; with breakfast area, cafe and bar (for a little nightcap) all available to us.
Slept well and bathroom was minimal but did the job, Room and bathroom very clean.
Our friends had a room that was so clean that you could still smell the bleach - very pungent. However that seemed to be the only one of our group to experience it and by the time we got back in to go to bed the smell of bleach had gone. Well worth the money.

My partner and I spent one night here as a place to rest our heads in between travelling and flights. It was low budget so it was handy as we didn't want to spend a lot. It was in a good location with shops nearby and a 15 minute walk from the city centre. Admittedly the hotel does needs some work the room was quite dated and I did have some concerns with the cleanliness of the place to be honest, you don't expect luxury when you stay in a budget hotel and you can't expect too much for the price but I am just trying to be honest with this review. Reception and the cafe were spotless and modern but the rooms and corridors needed more special attention. It did put me off a bit when we first entered the room but quite frankly in the end we did thoroughly enjoy our stay, purely because the staff were so excellent. While the hotel is low budget the staff were 5 stars! We were greeted on our entry into reception and although we were very early and knew we couldn't check-in for a few hours she booked us in for breakfast and kindly held our luggage for us in a secure room while we did a bit of shopping to kill some time. When we returned a couple hours later we were checked in by a lovely young man (who sadly I did not get the name of) who advised us if we needed anything at all not to hesitate to ask him. While all staff were excellent the one team member who went above and beyond for us was a lady named Clare. We were exhausted from travelling and a also little concerned about eating dinner in the cafe (Covid times!) so Clare organised and arranged for our 2 course dinners to be eaten in our rooms, a luxury we did not expect would be possible since the hotel does not offer room service but she made us feel so looked after. The next day when we were checking out our taxi had let us down and did not show up when it was meant to, Clare organised a new taxi for us and sorted us coffees while we waited and told us to sit inside from the cold. When we left she thanked us for our stay and said she hoped to see us again and wished us a happy new year, small details which made our day. She made the whole experience feel so personal and while I had some unsure feelings about the hotel at first the staff really turned it around and we ended up really enjoying it and felt so relaxed. Proof you can be pampered on a budget! Thank you too all the lovely staff in Newhall Street Birmingham and I hope the company value all the team who make these great experiences happen.

1st star is for the staff. I booked a family room (room 114) and I can honestly say the staff were exceptional, especially evening staff who went above and beyond at dinner time for myself and my child. On Tuesday evening, mine and 2 other guests' key stopped working and the reception girl was flustered as she was by herself and had to sort out all our keys at once on different floors, despite the clear stress she was in, she handled herself well. Would make more sense to have at least 2 staff members on an evening shift! Overall I was happy with the service.

The second and final star is for the bedroom itself, it was as expected from a Travelodge, clean and fresh.
The bathroom, however, was covered in black mould!! There were some broken fixtures too in the bathroom and the flooring was peeling from the bath . I was very disappointed, clearly this branch do not keep on top of the maintenance here. For the price you pay, the bare minimum would be a basic, mould free bathroom. Especially when travelling with young children!

Booked this hotel as we were going to a concert at the Arena and it seemed to be fairly close and a good price. You know what you're getting with a travelodge so seemed a good option.
It's ideally located just a few minutes walk from the canalside, 10mins max from the arena and about 10-15mins from Brindley Place and the main bar area on Broad Street yet in a quiet location so no noise at night and we got a good night's sleep.
Reception staff were friendly and welcoming, bar staff were lovely too.
Room was Spacious enough for one night, clean and tidy and just what we expected. I'd stay here again if we came back.

Booked this hotel for a NYE stay as was cheaper than cabs home.
It served its purpose as a bed for the night and its fairly central being placed between the city centre and the jewellery quarter.
I just want to make people aware that there is a massive building project going on at the back/ side of this hotel and our room (126) overlooked this and was literally 200 yards away from our winfoe.
Luckily for us the builders don't work on new years day!!
But the receptionist did say they start at 8.00am! She felt this was acceptable but in my opinion it's not when you're on a break and would like a lie in. The hotel should make people aware.
And also immediately below our room was a walkway which was very noisy with people walking through and was lit up by very bright lights that lit up our room all night!
It was also the storage area for racks of empty cardboard boxes from the Co-operative store next door.
So don't book if you want peaceful stay or ask for a high room where you might be a little bit more distant from the building noise.
I'm sure once the massive building project is completed then it will be fine. But beware this is still going on at the moment!

Centrally located but slight incline when going to new street for the bull ring or station.

Clean and comfortable, off street parking available if you are coming in later in the day and leaving early , that will avoid stumping up 10 15 quid for all day car parks.

Staff attentive and friendly.
Will recommend

Stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is located in the heart of the city and walking distance from Bull Ring, Birmingham Library, good eatery options around the venue. We discovered a really good Indian restaurant in the area "Asha's"(highly recommended). The rooms allotted were decent size as compared to some that we have seen previously by other hotels. We got a good deal with January sale which was value for money. Hotel situated in city comes with a trade-off of city noise which was slight disturbance during night and carpets worn-out were only draw backs.

Thumps up otherwise.

Stayed this weekend, definately not staying again.
Staff are fine except for when you go to drop your bags at 2pm and they have nowhere to hold your luggage but you can pay ÂŁ10 to check in which tells me that the room is ready but you've got to pay ÂŁ10 or come back at 3pm. I get it that check in time is 3pm but we've never had this happen at any other hotel, if we do go to a hotel pre check in time, its purely to drop our luggage, if they check you in early, bonus. Seems like a bit if a con to get a tenner out of you.
Room was tiny and extremely basic, think travel kettle and a bathroom you couldn't swing a cat in.
Breakfast wasn't good, well cooked but very very limited choice and the coffee is just awful.
Surroundings need a big tidy up, we smoke but can't stand seeing fag ends everywhere, just install some ashtrays they aren't expensive surely but I think that sums it up, they're not investing in the customer here and its obvious.

NCP car park on Newhall Street is the one I used. It is secure because you can't get in without pre-booking. The entrance opens when its read your number plate. The pedestrian doors only open with the QR code on your booking. We booked from 15:00hrs on 29th June 2023 to 11:00hrs on 30th June 2023. The pre-booked cost was ÂŁ26.95.
