As always with travelodge it was amazing value... right in the centre of Birmingham a 20 min walk along the canal to the Lego discovery centre and sea life centre. A 15 minute walk into the shopping district and Bull Ring.
NCP car park nearby and You can get your car park ticket valid so 24hrs cost just ÂŁ7.50
The rooms were clean and smelt fresh. Breakfast was fine - not fancy but there was all the usual options and it was plentiful and hot.
We often stop at Travelodge’s and I would certainly stop here again.
Slept well and bathroom was minimal but did the job, Room and bathroom very clean.
Our friends had a room that was so clean that you could still smell the bleach - very pungent. However that seemed to be the only one of our group to experience it and by the time we got back in to go to bed the smell of bleach had gone. Well worth the money.
The second and final star is for the bedroom itself, it was as expected from a Travelodge, clean and fresh.
The bathroom, however, was covered in black mould!! There were some broken fixtures too in the bathroom and the flooring was peeling from the bath . I was very disappointed, clearly this branch do not keep on top of the maintenance here. For the price you pay, the bare minimum would be a basic, mould free bathroom. Especially when travelling with young children!
It's ideally located just a few minutes walk from the canalside, 10mins max from the arena and about 10-15mins from Brindley Place and the main bar area on Broad Street yet in a quiet location so no noise at night and we got a good night's sleep.
Reception staff were friendly and welcoming, bar staff were lovely too.
Room was Spacious enough for one night, clean and tidy and just what we expected. I'd stay here again if we came back.
It served its purpose as a bed for the night and its fairly central being placed between the city centre and the jewellery quarter.
I just want to make people aware that there is a massive building project going on at the back/ side of this hotel and our room (126) overlooked this and was literally 200 yards away from our winfoe.
Luckily for us the builders don't work on new years day!!
But the receptionist did say they start at 8.00am! She felt this was acceptable but in my opinion it's not when you're on a break and would like a lie in. The hotel should make people aware.
And also immediately below our room was a walkway which was very noisy with people walking through and was lit up by very bright lights that lit up our room all night!
It was also the storage area for racks of empty cardboard boxes from the Co-operative store next door.
So don't book if you want peaceful stay or ask for a high room where you might be a little bit more distant from the building noise.
I'm sure once the massive building project is completed then it will be fine. But beware this is still going on at the moment!
Clean and comfortable, off street parking available if you are coming in later in the day and leaving early , that will avoid stumping up 10 15 quid for all day car parks.
Staff attentive and friendly.
Will recommend
Thumps up otherwise.
Staff are fine except for when you go to drop your bags at 2pm and they have nowhere to hold your luggage but you can pay ÂŁ10 to check in which tells me that the room is ready but you've got to pay ÂŁ10 or come back at 3pm. I get it that check in time is 3pm but we've never had this happen at any other hotel, if we do go to a hotel pre check in time, its purely to drop our luggage, if they check you in early, bonus. Seems like a bit if a con to get a tenner out of you.
Room was tiny and extremely basic, think travel kettle and a bathroom you couldn't swing a cat in.
Breakfast wasn't good, well cooked but very very limited choice and the coffee is just awful.
Surroundings need a big tidy up, we smoke but can't stand seeing fag ends everywhere, just install some ashtrays they aren't expensive surely but I think that sums it up, they're not investing in the customer here and its obvious.
