On Monday myself and a friend stayed in this hotel as we were going to a concert in Newcastle. On arrival to the hotel we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff in a beautifully decorated reception area. After check-in was quick and easy (which was great after several hours driving down) we were directed to the room. We stayed...

We got married here in June 2015. We stayed for two nights with family and friends. I honestly can't fault this hotel at all. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the wedding ran without a single problem. So many of our guests commented on the food being brilliant and the service was amazing. Big mention to Rachel...

Stopped here June 2015 for 1 night. A birthday treat with my wife. A large and fairly impressive hotel from the outside. However I felt like I was using the tradesman's entrance having parked the car and coming in from the back. Staff were polite and friendly. A fairly inexpensive room at £65 but started to stack up quickly when...

Hello Roy D, Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor. I am disappointed that you felt that our Car Park entrance felt like a "tradesman's entrance". We do have a dedicated goods inwards entrance which is separately located away from the car park which serves this purpose. I can also confirm that the £65.00 rate...

I went to the Thistle for a rugby weekend and it was certainly the right place for this type of weekend. Adjacent to the station, very close to the city centre and not the place to go for a quiet nights sleep. It was spot on!

Hello Peter H, Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor. You are right that we are not a “country hotel”. We are very much so a city centre hotel that caters to the corporate, city break and leisure markets. Something which we are known to do quite well and receive a good deal of positive...

Myself and my wife stayed for two nights as we got a great price for February and were very impressed with the room although it was a tad small. Everything was clean and up to standard. We were however disturbed several times on both nights by a young Irish couple staying next door, who after a few drinks at about...

Dear its_grim_oop_north, Thank you for your review. I was pleased to read your comments regarding your room and the value for money you felt you received. I am on the other hand quite perturbed by the incidents you have brought to light in your review. As an Irishman myself, I am incredibly concerned and genuinely disappointed that such incidents may...

Upon arrival the reception staff looked and spoke to myself as if I was causing them hassle by trying to check in when they clearly wanted to continue their gossip session. Eventually once I got the room key and made my way up to the room the corridor was filled with rubbish, every ledge was lined with dirty glasses and...

I stayed here on the 8th of July for one night. Situated opposite the train station it was an ideal choice. Stayed here late June. I found the staff to be quite friendly. Rooms were a bit on the small side but what's really great about this hotel is the location. Literally a stone's throw away from the mainline station.
