Wish I'd read other trip advisors comments on this hotel before booking as I would never have stayed. Smelt damp on arrival, dark and uninviting entrance experience improved marginally by the very pleasant and friendly receptionist (who probably felt sorry for us). The rooms were awful, small, smelly, badly decorated obvious signs of patched up damage on doors and walls....

Stayed here for a stag do, the £30 each bond was a bit steep but as we aren't a bunch of idiots there was no issue in getting it back and I understand that stag do groups expect this kinda thing. Room was clean, the hotel itself is a little dated but the staff are friendly and helpful. It's good...

My husband and I were very disappointed with our stay at this hotel. The pictures tell the story really. The foyer and staircases smelt absolutely awful and when we got to the room, we found it was filthy. There was a thick layer of dust around the edges of the carpets, a disposable razor blade cap in the shower -...

Great Location overlooking the Quayside and easy access to town. Free parking is a real bonus !! Good room, friendly staff. Shame for us that some building work was going on at the time and the smell of paint was not nice!! A really good place to use as a base to explore the history, beauty and nightlife of Newcastle...

Stayed in the waterside hotel for one night and what a pleasant experience it was. The room was very modern, spacious and clean with a large walk in shower. The staff were brilliant and the location was spot on, only a 5 minute walk from the city centre. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

This hotel is in a perfect location and offers free parking (a rare thing for city centre accommodation), and breakfast was included in the relatively low rate of £55p/n (double room). As far as being a place to rest your head, it was okay. However, we didn’t have the best overall experience. The lady on reception was lovely when we...

This hotel is situated in a excellent location and provides some parking but it is definitely not secure. The staff are very friendly but unfortunately the room was very tired and and the floor and top bedding were stained. The room we had at the front of the hotel was small (cramped) extremely noisy and we couldn't shut the windows...

Stayed here for my son's graduation. Perfect location. Super, helpful, friendly staff. Very comfy beds, although decor tired. Smell in entrance & stairs is awful & flickering light needed changing. Advertised as free parking, but £5 charge enforced, although this seemed reasonable value & hotel gave us 24 hours plus.

I just spent the weekend here and loved the place. It's basic and tired but has everything you need, clean bedding, towels, tea, coffee, Tv, Free Wifi, bar and a lovely little Breakfast room. Staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast spot on. Great location to bars and restaurants and a 10 minuet walk into the town. There is...

Situated on Newcastle’s famous and picturesque Quayside and just an 8 minute walk to the city centre. The hotel occupies a handsome Grade II listed building steeped in history and includes free Wi-Fi, parking and the funky and lively late night bar "Jimmyz" open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays . The city centre plays host to an excellent choice of shopping and also plays host to the Theatre Royal, which brings in talents such as opera North and The Royal Shakespeare Company. The bar is located on the ground level or if it’s dancing you prefer, then look no further than Sea nightclub. The hotel aims to go that extra mile to ensure you have a wonderful stay. Each bedroom has a unique style; the layout of the hotel lends itself to well-appointed rooms with the privacy and intimacy of a boutique hotel. Rooms offer all modern facilities guests would expect plus some rooms have extras such as plasma screen TV and DVD player and air conditioning. At the Waterside staff believe it is important to start the day right with a delicious freshly cooked Full English Breakfast or tasty Continental Breakfast which is served every day from 7:00am – 10:00am Monday – Friday and 8:30am – 10:30am Saturday and Sunday. Although the hotel doesn’t serve lunch or evening meals the immediate area boasts an excellent range of restaurants and cafes in which to enjoy any variety of meal. The famous Jimmyz Bar has been a landmark venue in Newcastle since the major re-development of the Quayside in the early 90’s. The bar has recently had a makeover of its own and this opulent cosmopolitan venue now boasts an extensive cocktail list and the sort of hospitality which makes Newcastle a popular choice.Newcastle and the wider area is made up of a diverse variety of towns, cities, coast and countryside offering a huge selection of things to do whatever your tastes. From relaxing at the coast to soaking up world-class culture in the city centres, from getting back in-touch with nature at a woodland retreat to shopping at Europe’s largest indoor shopping and leisure complex, (Metrocentre). It’s rare to find anywhere so diverse that amazes visitors at every turn with its dialogue between ultra-modern and ancient, with award-winning dining, inspiring heritage, fantastic shopping and acclaimed architecture makes up a destination like no other. ... more   less
