Stayed here for 1 night non business, found the staff and the room both excellent. I had a club room which was very well furnished. The bar also was relaxed with football on the tv so not all bad. Not too far also to walk to the station. Plenty of great bars and places to eat nearby!!

The location has the benefit of wonderful views over the Tyne it also has the unfortunate aspect of being very close to the "Mtero" bridge which trundles the extremely noisy trains from approx 05.00 am. The hotel is a little "tired" but the attitude of the staff was wonderful

I booked this via a booking website and was pleased with the room rate. The reason for my visit to Newcastle was to attend a concert at the nearby Sage in Gateshead which is a short 15 minute stroll, weather permitting. Room was okay but dated in comparison to other hotels i have stayed in recently. Staff all very pleasant...

Thank you for your comments, with your constructive feedback noted for review with my management team. The next phase of our bedroom refurbishment project (curtains, lounge chairs, desk chairs and lamps) will largely be taking place pre-Christmas. Best regards, Ken Ellington, General Manager

Stayed for four nights and payed less than £60 bed and breakfast for the two of us along with £7.00 per day car parking. Tremendous value for a four star hotel that has a perfect location and all rooms have an iconic view of the River Tyne. Spacious rooms, perhaps a little dated but clean and welcoming . Breakfast absolutely...

Stayed here 2 nights in October 2014. The view on the river Tyne is nice. That's about the only upside of the Copthorne hotel in Newcastle. There are numerous downsides to mention, In case you are still reading this (you might as well move on to check out the review of other Newcastle hotels), let me share a few with...

Sorry to read that your perception of your stay was a negative one, and that you felt the need to rate the hotel at such a level. Your review is not reflective of the normal standards in place at the hotel. Best regards, Ken Ellington, General Manager

My second time staying and disappointed this time round. Bedroom did not look tidy. Tea spilt on wall. Basin dirty. Bath very shallow. Mini bar in room but completely empty. No water to drink except tap water. Great view of tyne from window. Breakfast rubbery and bar expensive. £11 glass of rose and a pint and paying for parking on...

Stayed for two nights on business earlier this month. Lovely staff, good parking availability and free wifi. Some areas of the hotel are quite dated and the bedrooms in particular are in real need of sprucing up. The location of the hotel is great and I would definitely stay again once the bedrooms are refurbished (which I understand is taking...

A very average hotel. Wonderful location but poor breakfast with cotton wool scrambled eggs and incomprehensible jam/ marmalade dispensing machine. Stayed one night in spacious room with comfortable bed and great view of Tyne. Only tap water available to drink and cracked basin. Nothing in mini bar even though offered access to it when I checked in and left crdit...

This was the second year that this particular Doctor Who convention was held at this hotel. Yet again I found the staff to be kind, courteous, professional and extremely helpful. The food was not only of a high quality but there was a wide choice of meals at reasonable prices. I will soon be reserving my room for next year.

I would describe my visit as 'surreal'! Not due to anything the hotel did wrong......but with a 'Doctor Who' convention taking place throughout the weekend I certainly witnessed some 'interesting' sights! Not my cup of tea but each one to their own and all that! The reception staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient throughout our stay, my room was...
