Booked at short notice, having to spend an extra day in the office however was not disappointed. Room was reminiscent of past holidays spent in a Butlins chalet, needs refreshing but was warm, clean & comfortable. There was some small patches of mould in the tile grouting in the shower but at least it was clean mould, did not deter...

I stayed at the Holroyd Arms for the weekend, after phoning the pub, whom I found very helpful with my booking, they accommodated me nicely especially as I wasn't booking in till late evening.I found the room warm cosy and clean. It was worth the money,a bargain at the price quoted. The pub was nice to pop in for a beer, good prices too.I'd definitely stay...

If you are on a budget, this is a hidden gem. Right next to the pub, great breakfast, spacious friendly people. Rooms are in a separate annex next to the pub and you cannot hear any noise, as there was a part the night I stayed

This place was disgusting. Filthy dust everywhere the bathroom was so dirty with mould growing everywhere. There was old chewed chewing gum stuck to the walls the beds were covered in stains and full of bed bugs Iv come home covered in massive bites. I would not advise this place to anyone it needs to be seen and closed down

Booked here due to it being close to the University. I wish there was a rating less than 1 for this place as its not fair to the b and b's that genuinely deserve 1. Absolutely filthy. If I hadn't had an important conference at the uni the next day I would have found somewhere else. There was food on...

The room matched very well with the value of the money that I paid for. There is nothing to complain about the bed and the bedding. I was very comfortable with them. However, I wonder if the hotel attendants checked the tea/coffee making utensils prior to my occupancy. The kettle has dust which seemed to have piled up for days...

Wish I'd looked at reviews on here before staying. Used hotel for a place to crash after a night out. Slept in clothes. Didn't dare shower in the morning, filthy. Shower hadn't been cleaned or even wiped down. Just a really unclean room. Everywhere I inspected was dirty. - room number 4.

The place was tired and shabby looking. Asked for a wine list and was shown a few bottles stored in the fridge...Blossom Hill, no thank you. Not an extensive beer list and no peanuts or snacks (sold out we were told). Overall a very bland pub.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Let me introduce myself My name is Andrew and i am the new owner of the Holroyd arms,i have worked here for the previous 3 years as a manager where my hands were firmly tied behind my back where making improvements to the business were concerned. as of October 2014 i became the owner of the business and have made massive strides in making customers visits here more enjoyable,i have addressed most of the issues raised on Trip advisor and am continuing to raise the standards throughout the business, that being said some of t6he reviews placed on this site are way over the top with their critic. If you need a clean, warm and comfortable nights stay for a small budget then we are your destination choice,we are a 2 star rated business and dont claim to be anything but that, but just because of our rating it dose not mean we dont make every effort to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately this platform is mainly used by customers who are inclined to complain,we are fully booked week after week and the percentage of complaints to non complaints is about 5% if all our happy customers were to write reviews i wouldnt need to justify myself. So please dont be put off by the old reviews on this site and see for yourselves THE HOLROYD ARMS is a pleasant B&B. ANDREW ... more   less
