Receievd a really warm and pleasant welcome which set the tone for my stay, and was given a room in the Courtyard (36) which was absolutely superb.Room was generous and well decorated with a beautifully finished bathroom.Looked as if it had been recently re-furbished;one of the...More
Excellent main course of roast beef traditional Sunday lunch. Excellently cooked vegetables - good variety too. Lovely gravy.
Not so sure about the prawn and crayfish cocktail starter. Insipid prawns, small dollop of insipid sauce and no detectable crayfish. When quizzed waitress said the chef...More
Checked in this evening, courteous staff, room clean, tidy and warm. Had dinner in the restaurant, service was good as was the food and the price. Only downside so far is poor signal for mobile phone, not attributable to the hotel. Would book here again,...More
Old everything, stained upholstery and carpets, over priced should be £35 a night. Warm water not hot water.

Paper thin walls in courtyard room, stained bedroom carpet, bed linen with holes in it, poor & outdated restaurant offering .
There are much better value offerings in the area , this Hotel is neither cheap nor quality. Nothing to recommend the Priory.

I'd not bother me though. All garden rooms are about 30-40 metres from main building, are reasonably sized and again quite comfortable so you'd have a good choice. They numbered from about rooms No.20, I think. If I recall there were also a further 6 or so rooms (numbered around 32- 38 I think, that were in a small courtyard so you might prefer one of these if you don't mind being away from main building in winter. Certainly avoid room 1 if you are light sleepers as it overlooks the main road, although again a comfortable room. I hope this helps.
