......greets you as you enter the beautiful old pub interior and that heady smell of burning logs just makes you long for a pint of real ale. Perfect place to take in a refreshing libation, a really lovely, comforting pub.

Ate lunch here with friends. Fish and chips were ok, a bit flavourless. My partner had fish pie which was very dry, no sauce at all. It was ok but there are probably better places to eat in Aldeburgh. Nice roaring fire though and they allow dogs.

We stayed two nights and had one dinner, it was the second time we have stayed here. It's lovely old pub, relaxed atmosphere, clearly popular. The accommodation is fairly basic - clean and comfortable, but decor very dated and the shower is very poor. Our room (1) has a nice view out to sea. The breakfasts are very standard and...

We had (Adnams) Beer battered fish and chips. Fish was enormous and we could have easily shared one helping. Staff pleasant enough but slightly put off when the manager rushed to take out a bag of chips from the freezer when I placed my order. Fish seemed very fresh.

My work colleague recommended this pub as him and his wife visit here when in Aldeburgh. The staff were pleasant if a bit scatty and the food looked great. Expensive for a glass of wine and a pint (£10:35 - London prices) but we liked the building and the vibe. I am sure we will return again.

Lovely relaxed evening, with family and Dog. Great food and beverage choice available. Attentive, friendly staff. Happy customers all round, openly chatting to each other. One of a few places we have visited, where dogs are allowed anywhere, its a perfect place to go, there was a lovely atmosphere here. A traditional looking pub, clean and comfortable. We had been...

A total embarrassment to Adnams - particularly seeing as this pub is in a popular tourist area of Suffolk - the home county of Adnams!! The place is dirty, the outside area is a health hazard - you can smell human urine from the toilets, the 'once was a BBQ' stands rusty and is an eye sore, and the patio...

I had been curious to revisit this popular pub in the middle of Aldeburgh. My partner knows it from many family holidays in the past (she tells me her father was a permanent fixture here). I have known it from golf tours in the region (and any WAG reading this will understand when I say that Brandy and Amaretto was...

Had a short break in Aldeburgh recently, one of the very few places in the UK that we had not been to before. Once we'd settled in to our apartment the hunger pangs began in earnest so we headed for the lanes to see what could be found. As luck or good planning would have it, we came across a...

I cannot comment on the food however, drank here on two occasions and had very good pints of ghost ship. On the 3rd visit however the beer was like vinegar and was not good. I am aware they are a main entry of the good pub guide. Did not return and felt slightly dissapolnted!
