Took my daughter in here for a pre-Chtistmas treat..certainly not disappointed! The Swan is very tastefully decorated for Christmas and it's so warm and cosy. Fantastic view across to the Cathedral too. A 'must visit' for all.

A view of the Cathedral from the front door, pleasant dining and bar staff, good food, and a comfortable room. Plenty of restaurants and historical sites within reach. Wells is worth a visit and this hotel is well located for the town centre and market square.

My husband and I visited this Hotel this weekend. We had a wonderful time here. Very helpful and friendly staff, the room had the most comfortable bed I slept on in ages. Our room was clean and well appointed. My only advice to anyone looking to stay here is be aware that rooms at the front of the hotel, ours was room...

The room left an awful lot to be desired, it was poorly looked after (and we don't mean because it was an old building - that is usually the charm for us) the bathroom was dreadful and the noise level in the hotel in the evening was so bad all the hotel guests left the local ladies drinking in there

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. It is never pleasant to receive feedback of this nature and most unusual for this hotel. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. Perhaps you would be kind enough to furnish me with details of the room that you stayed in so I can investigate your comments...

Staying in Wells for a Thanksgiving Memorial service at the Cathedral so the location was great. Nice room with a lounge area but the furniture in the bedroom part is a bit too large and makes the room restrictive - the chest of draws would be best in the lounge area. Dinner was very nice on both evenings and the...

We booked a two night break at the hotel. Unfortunately there were no rooms available in the hotel so instead we stayed in the Mews apartments. It was a small apartment but was more than adequate for two people. We had a good fully equipped kitchen a sofa, TV and stereo with a downstairs toilet and a double bedroom and...

We stayed in a 4 poster bed room with partial view of cathedral which was nice, but room inside was very dark and it was difficult to read at night with poor light from low energy bulbs. Reception staff were mostly very friendly but did not like the resident cat being on the desk, just as well our son was...

We noticed that the Swan had a delightful tea garden just opposite the hotel and decided to stop for coffee and cakes. Service was friendly and efficient. The coffee, hot chocolate and cakes were all delicious. The location of the tea garden was picturesque, being directly in front of Wells Cathedral. Well worth a visit.

Our one night stay here was a disaster from start to finish. Keep in mind we were paying 144 pounds per night including breakfast. The room smelt of mould and was very down at heal in appearance. We opened the windows to try and get rid of the terrible smell but it was too cold to leave open. We asked...

It is always disappointing to receive this type of feedback. Reputations are hard won and easily lost, so it is important for readers of this review to understand what happened during your stay. As you state, the hotel was fully booked when you stayed, so our restaurant was especially busy. If we had known that you only required a snack...
