Stay for a few days whilst exploring Wells Glastonbury & Street. Nice room, well appointed, and a warm welcome, though the bar staff seemed to have a language barrier. Restaurant ok, though difficult to get a table at a convenient time. But our main worry were the ancient stairs; very narrow and not very safe when descending with a heavy... More

We stayed for a long weekend in the Swan, with a very comfy room in the Coach House annex - though the creaky floor must have kept the people below us awake! The restaurant was very good indeed and we dined there every night. The hotel is very near all the main attractions, cathedral, bishops palace, market etc. We will... More

Stayed here for two nights DB&B at the end of a week visiting hotels and restaurants. The location opposite Wells Cathedral is exceptional and the food is equally as good. At tonight's meal I had as good a sirloin steak as I have ever had. For sweet I chose creme brulee which contained sweet potato. I chose it out of... More

We had a lovely room (4) which overlooked the garden, the close and the West front of the cathedral, magical at night. The big 4 poster was very comfortable, two deep armchairs and another chair at the desk. Excellent bathroom, shower etc. No street noise and we did not hear the disco which we had been warned about when booking. Breakfasts... More

We only stayed one night and with an evening out planned we were unable to have dinner in the hotel (shame). Many hotel rooms have just one chair, inadequate in a double room. Our room in the coach house had a seating area with a table and two small but comfy chairs. The bed was comfortable and we both slept... More

This was my 3rd stay at the Swan & I'm still as impressed as I was the 1st time. The hotel is virtually opposite the cathedral and very close to the Bishops Palace (with moat and swans) and the main square. We had a ground floor room in the Coach House which is separate from the main hotel, but only... More

We received a very warm welcome as walk-ins on a Friday evening. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed a lovely beer in the bar on the ground floor. And a great English breakfast the next morning. Very nice hotel in great location for exploring the city of Wells, marred by noisy neighbours in the next room. We... More

Parking is really sketchy, but doable. The staff are super-friendly. The room we stayed in was a bit on the dingy side, and it overlooked the main street, so at night it was a little noisy. The food was excellent! But, if you are exploring the city, you couldn't get a better location!

Let's start off with the positives. We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were excellent, the food was superb, the location couldn't be more central to Wells. Plus a very comfortable bed. There was far more to do in the area than we could fit into our stay. So why didn't I score higher? Well the room we were in... More
