Very good value indeed for a central location in an expensive city like Bath. A good welcome, a clear readiness to assist guests and a nicely decorated room with large shower room and quality toiletries. The included breakfast was fantastic with a rotating 'special' dish cooked to order as well as fresh fruit salad, toast and decent coffee. They have...

As soon as we arrived Douglas did everything possible to make us feel welcomed and at home - he carried our bags from the car (in the pouring rain!) offered us tea, coffee and biscuits and talked us through a map of Bath, pointing out places we might like to visit based on our interests and making recommendations for places...

We were in Bath for a family event and chose Hill House because it was close to our daughters flat and also for its excellent reviews. We own and run our own B&B in North Wales, so we know the business well and were very impressed by Hill House. The rooms are well fitted out and have a real touch...

Thank you Douglas, Harry, and Alan for a wonderful visit to Bath and your lovely B&B. Hill House is classy, cozy, comfortable, and most welcoming. We arrived in a state of frenzy...we had just picked up the rental car....standard transmission...driving on the wrong side of roads that are much too narrow for two cars without driving on the sidewalk or...

Wonderful welcome, the experience got even better from there. Lovely room, lots of character, clean and tidy with all the amenities you'd expect. The owners are friendly and full of great tips to help you get the most from your time in Bath. Breakfast was superb, gorgeous pancakes plus a pretty little tussie mussie for all the ladies ( it...

This is an absolute gem from its location and rooms to the professionalism of Harry and Douglas. Thanks guys for a great stay, if only for one night. Harry was fantastic and gave us a great introduction to bath. Our room on the top floor had fantastic views over Bath. Communal breakfast was a treat and the meal a tribute...

Stayed three nights at this wonderful home from home. From the beautifully decorated rooms, to the WONDERFUL breakfasts, to the lovely hosts, it really is deserving of its No. 1 spot. I was a little worried about the communal breakfast idea when I read about it, as I'm a little shy, but I really needn't have fretted, as Alan and...

The best B&B I had ever been to. Everything is super. The room was spotlessly clean and lovely decorated. The breakfast was to die for, fresh and plenty of choices. But the best of the best is the staff. Simply FABULOUS. They REALLY go the extra mile and were helpful beyond belief. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Rest easy you've booked a lovely place to stay. Perfect location to explore Bath. Rooms are lovely and breakfast sets you up for the day. Really cannot fault the place. Wouldn't feel I needed to stay anywhere else when visiting Bath. The amount of repeat visitors underlines the quality of the place. Thank you, Tony

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to our home! Hill House was built in 1765 at the end of a Georgian terrace behind the Assembly rooms in Central Bath. Built originally as a hotel it later became a wine merchants and then a pub. The current owners purchased the property in 2011 and have updated the property throughout. The modernisation has been sympathetically undertaken to retain as much of the period of charm of the property as possible. The property now has six en suite letting rooms located one at the front and one at the back on each of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors of the property. All bedrooms are equipped with newly appointed shower rooms, 32” digital Televisions, hairdryers and free wifi. The more the stairs the better the views from the rooms across Bath to the countryside beyond!Breakfast is served in our dining room on one large table, where reccomendations of what to see and where to eat are shared. Besides a choice of cereals etc we also offer a choice of two cooked breakfasts per day which vary throughout the week. We are able to cater for most dietary requirements but ask for as much notice as possible as we do not carry some items as stock as we are only a small establishment. This is our home and we want you to be able to relax in it. We have ironing facilities and a house sewing kit to hand. If you need anything else please ask and we will see what we can do.Hill House is a 2 minute walk from the Assembly Rooms and five minutes from the main shopping centre and Royal Crescent. There are plenty of local places to eat and drink close by and we would be happy to give recommendations upon request. On street Parking permits are available but will need to be reserved. ... more   less
