We chose the hotel because it was in the centre of Shrewsbury. Its location is within walking distance of the historic centre and overnight parking 30 yards away cost us £1! The building dates back to C16th and those who value the character of an historic old building will love it. Eating our evening meal in the oak paneled dining... More

Really nice location and we'll book to eat here in future. Just dropped in for cocktails. I had a double gin and tonic. Asked how wanted it served. Asked for it 'as is' with lime. Came with lemon in a short glass, rammed with ice and got about 10% of tonic in before glass full. Removed four large ice cubes... More

An ancient building with a variety of interesting and comfortable rooms. The restaurant contains two 400yr old tables and a host of serious antiques. A very nice enviroment. Very good food and very good staff. Central with parking.

Birthday, anniversary and got a babysitter!!! So booked a nights stay. Only 5 mins walk ( uphill ) from train station. They took our bags in early for safekeeping, which was great and made shopping easy. Check in was easy as they only have a few rooms. Stayed in the wool room which was the last room (to get to... I booked this based on my previous experience which was a number of years ago and I wanted to show case it to my wife and members of her family. To say I was disappointed that would be an understatement, the food at best was no better than Pub Grub and the service was poor. The place has great potential... More

Staff were friendly. Food was cold.. we had to send it back and still it was Luke warm ... small portions ... left hungry and disappointed !! We dined early so they weren't overly busy! For a fine dining establishment we expected so much more!

My husband and I stayed last weekend in the Wool room, it was wonderful the staff couldn't do enough to accommodate us and communication before our stay was excellent. We booked a table for the night time and the food was truly excellent which surprised me, my husband and I have stayed in some of the best hotels in the... More

I had arranged a stay for my friend and I as a surprise for her, she was blown away by the rooms so it definitely had the wow factor. I had tried to book a table in the restaurant after reading great reviews but they replied that they had a function on but would set up a table in my... More

Where do I start this place is just what I was looking for. Quirky boutique hotel with great staff and one of the best breakfasts I have had in a long time. The staff were helpful from start to finish, my cocktail held it's own against the best in London. My room although a little cluttered was tastefully decorated, the... More

I love restaurants that have a bar for pre-meal drinks. I also love restaurants with atmosphere and those tables that have character...big, bold and with personalities of their own. 6 of us landed on a busy Saturday night and were given fantastic tables for pre drinks and for the meal. The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere buzzy and we... More
