We have just returned from staying here for two nights. We were in Room 5 - a lovely room upstairs. Yes it's a bit tedious bringing luggage through pub/restaurant and through a courtyard to room but it's ok! The room itself was cosy and comfortable and we found it really pleasant. Dinner on the first night was lovely - service...

We felt this this pub with rooms was really too expensive for what they offer. The pub has lovely old features and is, no doubt, a popular drinking place but it is a bit grubby. Breakfast was odd, we paid extra for the full English but had to find someone to ask for it. Poor coffee and basic ingredients. The...

I have never been more confused about a hotel I have stayed in , hence the "sit on the fence " average score. To be positive first, the staff were really friendly, the setting was lovely & the food & drink were excellent, the beds were comfy with excellent tea/coffee making facilities so why only a 3 star rating from...

First time we have tried this budget range and was most impressed. Nice sized room which was clean, tidy and well maintained. Friendly staff and good food at adjoining Fox Inn. Only two things annoyed us. Bit of a trek through car park to get to the pub, although you can go through the fire exit for breakfast? Wifi is...

We stayed here. It was very good value at 59 pounds with breakfast. I didnt expect much but the place is great. The rooms are clean and well kept. Although beside a road, we slept like logs, its doubled glazed so we heard another. Its surrounded by open countryside and amazing views. Its also beside walks. Inside the decor is...

Spent 2 nights here visiting the peak district. Location was ideal for getting around. Room was very nice with stone walling and beams. As it was warm we left the window open and could hear freezer unit downstairs outside cutting in but not enough to disturb you. The pub was very busy Sunday when we arrived, however quietened down throughout...

The customary warm welcome from various staff including Jackie, who remembered me from previous visit, when she kindly let me use her computer in an emergency. The room was spacious and comfortable, though the bed appeared to be a little on the narrow side - only mattered to us as we both have back problems. Complimentary breakfast was OK, though...

I would thoroughly recommend a stay at the Innkeeper's Lodge. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was beautiful; it was also very well maintained and clean. An ideal location for visiting the Peak District and Sheffield is only a 20 minute drive away.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Just three miles from the historic village of Hathersage, this charming country lodge dates back to 1773 and is one of the cosiest hotels in the Peak District. What's more, it's only a short drive from Sheffield and Chesterfield. The lodge, which you'll find within the Longshaw estate, offers 9 comfy, characterful rooms, a menu of hearty, seasonally inspired food, and a wide range of regularly changing cask-ales and well-chosen wines. Longshaw is a lovely place with many hidden gems: spectacular views, ancient oak woods, sleepy meadows, heather moorland, archeological treasures and millstone quarries. Locals will proudly tell you that it's also home to the oldest continuous sheep-dog trials in the country. If you've brought your walking boots, head for Hathersage - a great place to start your exploration of the area's intriguing rock formations. The area is a haven for walking and climbing, but it's also a popular with swimmers. That's because it's lucky enough to have its own heated outdoor swimming pool, set within a lawned enclosure and usually open from March through to September. There are plenty more pursuits to keep you busy, with Chatsworth House, Sheffield Botanical Gardens, Sheffield Ski Village and the ancient village of Eyam all on the doorstep. ... more   less
