On the plus side, lovely staff, car park, good wifi in room. On the minus side, the bad old carpet smell in the shabby corridors. Felt nothing like a 4 star hotel, poor value for money and mean corporate spirit: only 1 set of towels in bathroom of double room; no toiletries other than a soap screwed to the wall;...

Stay was my husband and I (mid 50s) and daughter aged 22. I stayed here for one night Sunday 19th July so I could go to my daughter's graduation at Sheffield University the next morning. It is a handy 10 minute walk to the Uni and we could park our car until midday which we left at the hotel (should...

staff in this hotel were lovely. breakfast was great and the girls at breakfast were great. I was in room 71 or 72 can't remember but it was the darkest dreariest room I was ever in. the corridor to the room or the bridge as it was called smelt of must and damp. the room was very hot and the...

Lovely place to stay and everyone is so lovely! Amazing food and they present it so well! Everyone was especially helpful as I had broken my ankle and they were willing to help with anything. Only downfall: too many stairs! The restaurant (with amazing food) is all the way down a windy staircase and for people with disabilities it may...

We wanted a hotel within walking distance of the botanical gardens. We checked in very quickly and easily. We had to walk up about 4 flights to get to our room. We noticed a layer of dust all around the edges of the skirting boards. We got to our room and found the same thing. It just felt as though...

Stayed here 1 night as I needed to look at the university and I live very far away. Room - horrible decor, very little light, barely any appliances or luxuries (e.g. soaps, shampoos etc.), seriously uncomfortable bed. Location - perfect for me as it was a 5 minute walk from the university, but don't know what it would be like...

I have been remiss. When my mother was in hospital last year, we stayed here as a couple and later I returned on my own twice. The manager and staff were brilliant, even allowing me to park to visit hospital when I was not actually staying. I neglected to pay me sincere respects to all the staff for there overwhelming...

Booked at the last minute, my wife and I found the hotel very pleasing. Nice polite staff, very attentive. Clean room. Wonderful breakfast. Very close to the hospital. 10 minutes walk to town. Free hotel parking. Definitely staying again.

We did hope The Rutland would be just the job for our visits to Sheffield over the next four years, sadly not. As others have said if you just need a comfortable bed that that's about all we got. Our first double room was very dark which the frame around the window and décor did not help. On closer inspection...
