The place needs a major overhaul. My room had a radiator, an electric heater and a towel heater. With the electric heater on full blast I managed to get my room warm. However, the towel heater, with its suspect looking wiring never managed to heat the en-suite. The room had single glazed sash windows. These really need to be updated...

Good location, 5 minutes walk away from train station and around 10 minute walk to the town centre. Variety of breakfast choices, both continental and traditional full English breakfast. The rooms are a good size and they have portable radiators which you can turn on and off as you wish. The cleanliness of the sheets wasn't as good as expected....

The most horrid place I have ever almost stayed in.I left. See the previous review. He isn't exaggerating! I thought dumps like this no longer existed. This place needs to be inspected and shut down. I can add little to the previous reviews. I couldn't find anywhere else to stay after my meeting. So I left and struggled home on...

I have just returned from only a 1 night stay at becket guest house, and im so glad it was only 1 night, infact, if there had been another hotel nearby with vacancies i would have left straight away! As we walked up the steps to the tatty front door and entered the hall way, straight away the smell hits...

My wife and I stayed here for one night whist in Oxford this summer. We stayed in a lower ground floor room. There was a very strong smell of damp and chemicals as soon as you entered the room and even the sheets were a bit damp. There was a lot of dead bugs throughout and the shower room wasn't...

I'm a solo traveller and I went to the Becket Guest House for a few day. My trip to Oxford began badly since I had to change my train ticket because the Becket Guest House was not doing Check-In after 18h! Moreover I had to wait 45 min outside the building waiting for the check-in office to open. Otherwise the...

My partner and I picked up and dropped off our hire car from Oxford and had booked to stay here on two separate nights in July. SERVICE: Most of our dealings were with Marie, who's really friendly and chatty. We had lots of lovely chats with her about Wimbledon, which was on at the time. Her husband was generally quiet...

The welcome is warm and genuine, the breakfast service is pleasant and efficient and the food of good quality and freshness, however... Room 2a at the top of the first flight of stairs. OMG first impression was overriding smell of damp. Dingy and dreary with a (absolutely spotlessly clean) shower cubicle 'thrown in' to one corner of the room, not...

This jet-lagged and on-a-budget traveler was really pleased with my choice of the Becket House the first night of my retirement trip. Happy because it was so close to the train station, which was convenient both coming and going. Delighted because the proprietor was so welcoming, warm and helpful. The walk to the city center was a piece of cake...

Very nice and welcoming hosts, super tasty full English breakfast. The room was nice and clean, maybe a bit small and the shared bathroom situated one floor below but these are only small inconveniences for this price. I can honestly recommend this guest house for budget travelers.
