Very enjoyable experience at this hotel. Was a prison in the past and have kept its stand out features which is really interesting. We had food at the hotel which was also great as well from Starters to Dessert. I would make sure check the parking prior and also ask maybe not to be at the back of the hotel...

After a 32 mile walk to reach Oxford, I couldn't believe how incredible my accommodation was when I arrived here! Built into what was once Oxford Castle, then a prison, the hotel has maintained the latter as it's theme, with the cells being excellent rooms, along with the suites all being named after the governors. From the moment of arrival,...

This hotel has been built using the infrastructure of part of the jail of Oxford Castle. This unique position enables guests to stay in rooms which are carved from old cells. Although the original building is old the modern decor is excellent and although expensive if you can find a deal it's well worth a stay. Thanks to Sangheeta (spelling?)...

Stayed here over bank holiday with the wife and kids Really interesting hotel, bit different to the mainstream type hotels you get. Service and staff were great. Room was nice, we had a suite so we could accommodate the kids beds. Had dinner in the restaurant and food was great! If you like steak, you will love it. Really convenient...

So. It was my 30th birthday celebration so my partner and I booked here for the weekend. Firstly. One thing they don't tell you. If you drive YOU HAVE TO RESERVE A PARKING SPACE when you book there is no free parking. Also it'll cost you about £25 to park for a night, otherwise it's pay and display that is...

This is a place where you need to stay at least once. Make sure you have a cell room in the main block as the conversion from old prison to hotel is superbly done. Staff are great, helpful and knowledgeable, one showed us tot he original cell and this is worthwhile seeing, gives you a sense of what people had...

Most folk will no doubt have got no nearer a prison than seeing the inside of one on the TV. A night in Malmaison will quickly put that to rights! The old jail is located almost in the centre of this beautiful city and stands adjacent to Oxford castle. Until 1996 it was used for the purpose intended but following...

Phenomenal surroundings! But.... really average service, the worst ive experience of any hotel in any country. Its like youre only paying for the experience of staying in an ancient prison. Would i stay here again or at any Malmaison in the world? Nah. Definately not, & its a real shame.

The building is great, we had a cell on A block. We often have one night stays in unusual, special, often expensive hotels. This one nighter started off on the wrong foot, as we had not prebooked parking. Nobody had mentioned we needed to do,this. Although the receptionist insisted it was on our confirmation email. IT WAS NOT. after some...
