I decided to take my daughters to a local campsite for a one night stay. We found the site easily and arrived. We could not find anyone to say we had turned up so we just pitched the tent in the open field opposite the caravan section. The field is open and not very private. We still couldn't find anyone...

We stayed here from Monday to Wednesday! We had a fantastic time! We rang and asked if booking was possible and what time to check in and was told just to pull up and find a pitch! The site was well sign posted and we pulled in to idyllic scenery, we chose to go without hook up and there was...

Very helpful, friendly people here, Lovely place to stay with tremendous views, I would absolutely recommend it. Clean facilities and bin area and plenty of room to pitch the tent to do the wall walk.

To echo comments of a few other reviews, the site really needs signage for new visitors (for their own sake as much as the visitors, they were trying to pin down a neighbouring camper for payment for 2 days). We lingered for quite some time before visiting one of the cottages on the lane, who's bemused resident just told us...

First of all the website. Not sure when it was written but it states that they have a new shower and toilet block ...mm . It's at least a few years old and in dire need of some t l c . But the water's warm, it all works and it's adequate. everything's just a bit tatty. We were met...

Felt like we were miles away from anywhere but really we weren't The 2 ladies who came around to collect our fees where lovely too. The only downside was what I think was a games room. Old tables a chairs, dartboard, sweet machine...

Not far off the A69 west of Newcastle, approaching the site along the tree lined drive has all the halmarks of a little gem. However, lack of any welcoming, who to see, what to do signage left us in a bit of limbo until we met one of the other visitors who just told us to pitch and someone would...

We wanted somewhere that was central to Beamish and Vindolanda. Wellhouse farm hit the spot. Surrounded by glorious countryside views. EHU is available on a few pitches in the large field. Slightly sloping but great for drainage when it rained. There's a quiet road that seems to divide the site, mainly caravans in the smaller side where the amenities were....

As other reviews have said its a basic site but its setting outweighs this. Its a rural idyll on a working farm with stunning scenery. If its wet bring your wellies! One advantage is if you get stuck when its wet there's a tractor on hand to assist and at no cost! Very friendly owners.
