Stayed for 3 nights on a horse racing trip. This has to be the worst hotel ever. Opened the door to the room and was greeted with a stench of stale cigarettes and sewage. The room was dirty and tired looking the windows were nicotine stained. The bathroom was mouldy the sink was broke there is nothing positive to say... More

Arrived at this hotel when working away and I'd look to be avoiding it myself in the future. The good points are that the food and drink is very cheap and affordable but that's about it really. The negatives start in the room. My room had a radiator in it though it was stone cold so getting to sleep and... More

Dilapidated, rooms cold in the winter and smell. Hard to sleep with music blasting out of pub opposite until 3am. Grumpy service Breakfast basic, toaster didn't really work Central with free parking but still not good value at £55/night

I was told it is "non smoking" it isn't and its grim. People on my corridor are smoking & my room stinks of stale moldy cigarettes. I asked them if I could change rooms to a corridor where people aren't smoking. their reply is they can spray the room....it is not just the smell that bothers me but the effect... More

Friend booked this, I then read the reviews and assumed I was going to prison or something. However we arrived & the staff were excellent, once I arrived in my room I was deeply shocked. When you read the reviews you expect the worse. It was great, I will admit it isn't a Marriott but your not paying those prices.... More

Dirty room, twin beds pushed together and bed linen which did not fit. No bath plug, no safety grab rail to aid getting out of the shower over bath, no blinds in the bathroom only privacy glass - main road so visible when lights on. Water stained ceiling. Dust covered light shade. Dirty hall, stairs and entrance. Noisy nightclub opposite... More

I've stayed here a couple of times when I can't get a room at my usual hotel. I was expecting the worse having read some reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. Room was clean and tidy, service was good, excellent location, loads of parking. Can't comment on the included breakfast as I was in a rush but it looked okay.... More

Irresistible Victorian architecture, large room with a bay window, large but slightly outdated bath and a magnificant breakfast. Add this to a friendly staff and the only minuses are the lack of an elevator and a hotel bar that closes at 11 AM on a saturday night.
