My husband and I stayed from the 29th Nov until 1st Dec 2016. A Christmas shopping trip. We received a lovely warm welcome from Phil who showed us to our room and explained where we could find the Christmas market. Ideal location and 10 mins from station and 10 mins into the heart of the town. We had the Book... More

We had a wonderful weekend break at the Ashley Guest House, staying in the Tub room on the second floor. As the name suggests, a huge claw footed roll top bath is the feature of this room. A separate loo and sink is next door to the Tub room, just for the people who are staying in this room. The... More

This is a wonderful place! We had the Plum room - spacious with a comfy bed and a nice big shower. Breakfast was delicious (having a good veggie cooked one was a treat) and there were always baked goods and good tea available. Phil was a wonderful host, pointing us towards some great local eateries and even suggesting a scenic... More

Really friendly clean and the breakfasts you had a great selection of cereals, fresh fruit, toast and the option of breakfasts on the black board. I wish I took my phone down to take photo's but I forgot ! The room we stayed in was fantastic would definitely go back and recommend.

We stayed at the start of October for two nights for my boyfriend's birthday. We were in the Tub room right at the top of the house. The whole place was gorgeous, felt immaculately clean, and was really beautifully decorated. Breakfast in the morning was great, as were Phil's home-made cakes & museli bars. Would definitely stay again when visiting... More

A very pleasant overnight stay in the Book Room, the smallest room at the top of the house. Everything at Ashley is as you would wish it to be: clean, cosy , attractive decor with homely touches. Phil is a welcoming, relaxed host. The breakfast menu is more extensive than usual and the complementary cakes (available all day) are a... More

This guest house is amazing, Phil was so helpful and pleasant. We stayed in the Plum Room which was clean comfortable and bright, as well as tastefully decorated. The house itself is beautiful, the decor is tasteful and a little quirky. The breakfasts were great and I would say hard to beat and the homemade cakes are divine!! The situation... More

We were two couples and we had the Book room which has its own toilet and shower and Tub room which has a tub in the room and a separate toilet on the landing for that rooms use only. The couple that had the Tub room used our shower over the weekend. The concept of the tub in the room... More

We stayed here for two nights, and had zero complaints. Phil was very helpful -- he gave us great information about the city and allowed us to keep our bags at the B&B after we checked out to accommodate our late afternoon train. He also upgraded us to a larger room since we had booked at a time he wasn't... More

Stayed for 3 nights in the Duck Room. Lovely decorated with clean very comfy bed and excellent en suite shower room. Extremely tasty breakfast choices which set you up for a days exploring. Very nice additional touch to come back to in the evening/afternoon of homemade biscuits, rocky road or brownies. Owner Phil and rest of the staff very helpful... More
