Great Stay here. Staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was continental but great choice. Room was great and bed was very comfy had a great sleep. About 15 min walk to town was very pleasant as you can walk along the riverside. Great stay will be back.

The Saxon House is relatively cheap, has parking, is well located - it's a ten minute walk along the river to the centre of York - and the hosts are very friendly and welcoming. But don't expect much from the rooms - ours had no decoration on the walls whatsoever (apart from what looked like a lip-stick smear), the beds...

No bed made, no tea cups washed, dirty bathroom, no wardrobe just hangers above a dirty fire place! The only time we met the owner was to take our money on arrival, when we left no one present to ask had we enjoyed our visit! just left the keys on the desk. Suggestion for improvement. LARGE SLAB of SEMTEX.

Double room , with spare single bed. Basic but very clean and tidy. Lovely quiet area , but plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance. 10 minute walk to City Centre. Very secure as given code for door and keys to let ourselves in.

Stayed here for one night for a friends birthday. The room was a small double, it was clean and had everything you needed. Rooms had tea and coffee facilities, and tv. What you would expect in this area. The bathroom was small, but shower was quite powerful with no issues with hot water. Continental breakfast was basic but nice, with...

We stayed here a few days before Christmas and it was the perfect place for a short break. We had a small double which was clean, well decorated and had everything we needed. The bathroom was very small but wasn't a problem for us...we just dried in the main room. Breakfast was very simple, self service continental. Toast, tea, coffee,...

Basic room, room not serviced the whole time we were there. We knew it was a continental breakfast when we booked but we expected a little bit more choice maybe served with fresh tea and coffee instead of warm water from a large flask also fresh fruit other than just bananas. It would have been nice to have our room...

Visited York for a couple of days and stayed at the Saxon, parking was nice and easy at the rear of the property. The owner welcomed us and was very helpful. The rooms were pleasant. Walked into York took 15 minutes. Continental breakfast in a morning. Enjoyed the much needed break.

About a 10 minute walk into York with lots of old and new pubs and restaurants on the way. A tip if you make a cooked breakfast be aware...

Friendly hosts and lovely room overlooking roof tops and street below. Less than 10 minute walk to The Barbican Theatre and local restaurants. Parking at rear for residents and full continental breakfast available on a self service basis. We were also able to use dining room facilities for afternoon tea. Key provided for front door so we could let ourselves...
